Default car radio help please

I have 2 kenwood krc-709's that need a ribbon cable replaced. i can get the part for $30 each but do not know how to do the repair

I took theem to a kenwood repair shop today for a free estimate the guy comes back telling me $100 each in labor and $30 each for materials and if the materials go over he will call for approval first . I asked him what if i say no?, he says you can have back your radio and you owe me $130 each i called him a frickin a-hole and left

any idea where i can get these repaired for less? i will ship and can wait a few weeks if needed. i am all for making a buck, but i am not in to screwing people.

Default

I seen an automotive audio board with alot of kenwood owners having this problem.

I never had problems with my KRC-708 for the 2 yrs I used it (replaced it with a AM/FM/CD/MP3/Siruis Kenwood headunit).

But when I bought the new radio (for over $600 no less) it had a faceplate failure in 3 weeks. Kenwood has a service center in Madison, WI (where Kenwood ships all warranty work no less). I asked if they could just give me a replacement of the same type since its only 3 weeks old and I paid ALOT (to me) for a radio. After bitching at them, they finally agreed 2 days later to just give me a new one.

I still have my KRC-708 in a box. Gonna reinstall it when I go to sell my truck.
