My last 2 Mountain bikes have had Hayes Hydraulic Disc. I will never go back to Vee Brakes.

My wife (who races XC mountain bikes) is using Hayes wave rotors with the carbon MC's, pretty damn trick.

I cant wait to Upgrade to the Hydraulics. I have the Avid Mechanical right now and they are incredible. You can adjust the amount of slack in each individual Brake pad as well as the pair. They even have indicators for pad wear.

Funny how Hayes has no cred in the world of MC's but if you're pedaling nothing can beat them. Brembo may be coming on, but for a bike it'll be hard to knock Hayes off. Even the bike I ride on pavement is disc only.

Actually the Hope brakes have a WAY better feel than the Hayes. Almost as good as the Avid mechanical stuff !!!

I've got the Avid mechs on my Giant, they are excellent, way less maintance than the hydros, maybe not as smooth, but way beyond the Vee brakes. Just got back from riding the desert an hour ago, 70 degrees, sunny, gotta love that Phoenix winter weather.

I've got no complaints about the Magura's on my Scalpel...
They even worked in the snow today...

My Fisher has Grimeca 4-pistons up front and Hayes in the back (stupid 22mm mount on Fisher/Trek bikes)... those things are amazingly powerful. My other bike has Shimano mechanicals, those aren't bad either... better than most v-brakes!
