January 19, 2005 -- MARTHA might become the boss on a new edi tion of "The Apprentice" and The Donald says he would welcome the Domestic Diva into the family.
Some NBC executives are exploring the possibility of launching a second edition of "The Apprentice" with Martha Stewart in the driver's seat just like Donald Trump, reports the industry trade magazine, Broascasting & Cable.
"I'm certainly open to it," Trump — an executive producer on the show — told The Post yesterday. "Martha is a friend of mine and I think it's wonderful if she would want to do that, but that's not what NBC has in mind."
Trump, like other industry Sources, said he's heard that NBC is considering giving Stewart her own, unique reality show.
"We can't talk about it while she's in [prison]," "Apprentice" creator Mark Burnett told The Post, yesterday confirming that a prime time Martha show is in the works. "There could be an announcement before she comes out, but I wouldn't hold my breath."
Jail rules have prevented the "Domestic Diva" from discussing business, so planning for Stewart's primetime debut will have to wait.
It's no surprise that NBC is investigating new ways to milk the success of "The Apprentice." Despite several seasons on the air, the reality show's ratings have continued to be excellent.
