Default Disaster Relief Funds

Hi,
I am certain some of you may have already donated to the disaster relief effort for the countries affected by tsunamis. If you have yet to do so I implore you to do so. Several charities are in need of money to help feed and medicate the survivors of this disaster. There are now over 115,000 people dead, and the number is expected to climb. There are thousands of US citizens still missing, so this is not just someone else’s problem. You can help by going to http://www.amazon.com or http://redcross.org or to see a list of all of the world wide charities accepting online donations http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/...sites/

While you may not be thanked personally by the people you help, you can know that they are appreciative even of a small donation. 5$ is not too little, and it will help more than you think
Peace

i would suggest not to give any donations to any group or organization affiliated with the UN. you will be wasting your money in my opinion. be sure to ask questions about how your money will be spent and how much will actually go for relief. it's your money be sure to get all you can with your donation.

here is a link worth your donation http://www.usaid.gov/

Kinda like giving money to a bum. You don't know if he's going to spend it on a meal or another bottle but if you give him food, he will eat.

If you could figure out how to send necessary medical supplies, a much larger percentage of your money might make it to where it is needed.

No matter who you send your money to, the Red Cross will probably wind up with it and they are probably the most corrupt 'legitimate' disaster relief organization out there.

Greg Giraldo has a line, something like:

"The other day a bum on the street asked me for money. I didn't give to him, because I figured he would just spend it on drugs and alcohol. Then I thought, what the hell... That's what I'm gonna spend it on!"

Anyway, what are you going to do? Keep your money, because you don't trust the relief agencies? Or send some in, and know that you at least tried to do something...

Ok, Ok so all charities can't be like the Salvation Army and some select others that have a small overhead. And yes the post about not giving to any organization connected to the UN is good.

But come on.

How about the international Salvation Army...
