I recommend leeches, drop that volume a little and problem gone.......A sweet Indica also works wonders!

Eat more fiber, lower your body fat if that's an issue and limit the cholesteral intake..

How high was it? Did you have it checked in previous months or last couple years? Some have "white coat" hypertension where it is elevated seeing the doctor esp. when nervous. Check it yourself at a store or with a good home unit. Sit five minutes before checking with cuff at heart level. If you do this five days and it is less than 140/90, you don't have hypertension and vice versa. If it is mild 140-1 50/90- 100 or so you can try diet and exercise for 6 months but this almost NEVER works because people just don't really change enough. If you needed to lose 30 lbs and don't exercise than maybe you have a shot. If not than definitely meds. Certain meds are better for diferent ethnicity. Some meds have alot more side effects eg beta blockers. This is why meds like Norvasc are popular, once a day and less common side effects, although still can have sig. side effects. Some meds have proven reductions in future heart attack outcomes so ask about that if you need one. You could also take a low dose of someone elses medication for a couple weeks and redo test and say it was nerves(legal disclaimer- shite happens when you take chances although not likely with starting doses since you can have a reaction if a doctor starts you on one anyway). Ask a question and you get free expert internet medical advice all the way from lovely Afghanistan, hoorah? Gotta love the internet.

Depending on the severity of your case you will possibly need to be on multiple maintenance drugs for life. Mine was stroke high about 10 yeas ago. Firstly have a cat scan to rule out renal stenosis. This restriction in blood supply to the kidneys will send the BP into the stratosphere.

When queried as to why the BP went so high and why am I now on three drugs the urologist simply stated to not sweat it and that his wife is on four. Sometimes the body just thinks it needs high blood pressure and we're telling it through the drugs that it does not. My wife is now on two meds for BP.

You WILL schedule with your doc TOMORROW. If he does not feel comfy treating an acute case have him recommend a urologist and see him asap. Go to the drug store and get a BP monitoring machine for $70. Don't get the Omron units as they are a POS.

No matter what the cause get yourself taken care of.. As dumb as it sounds feel free to vent here... After It turned 40 my Cholesteral started to climb.. I work out three times a week and I eat very little meat (no junk, fries, etc, etc). Without Statins I'm over 300, with them I'm in the 130. Have to love genetic sespool..
