Default Jetting Question Part Deux!!

Alright I shimmed the needles and that helped but there still is a little lag. I just found out that the Bros came with 145/138 needles stock. I'm currently running a modified M4 exhaust (buell underside mod) K&N filter with stock air box (top removed).

1. Is my current set up correct. (well not correct but normal)
2. What are most people running (jet wise).
3. I've heard of people running 145/145. Is this too rich for the street.

Describe the lag a little more Raul... at part throttle cruise? Accelerating? Needles probably need another shim, the mains are just a little lean but should be ok. Where's the fuel screw set at? I might have to send you a jet kit...

Hord

Could you give me a little more information on the fuel screw setting (pilot screw)? I've heard about having to drill through a protective cover and set the screws two turns out. Does that mean two turns out from all the way in or from their current position. Sorry but this is my first time tinkering with the carbs. Thanks.

The fuel screws are located near the intake manifolds on the carburetor, just above the float bowl gasket surface. They stick out to the sides, toward the frame. If you look you will see a little aluminum bullet-shaped anti-tamper cap. Tamper with it. If you come in at an angle with a small screwdriver or pin punch, you can knock them out. Easier than drilling. The screws are underneath. Turn them in fully- and seat them lightly. Then turn them out 2.5 turns to start with. Try 3.0 if that doesn't do it. You will need a small/short flathead screwdriver, best to get a cheapie at the local whatever takes the place of Walmart or NAPA in Japan, and cut it down.

Ok, lets just say hypothetically..... That I'm adjusting the pilot screws and then I go for a ride. Now on this hypothetical ride I notice that the bike is running good but needs to be leaned out a tad. Next thing I know the bike starts to back fire and act really weird. Then hypothetically I get home and notice the freaking pilot screw, spring and o ring are missing....... .

Other than ordering a new one and replacing it. What else should I do......HYPOTHETICALLY
1. replace the other side as well (Manual says to do this)
2. Leave the old one in and just put the new one in.
3. What the hell is the purpose of the pilot screw anyways!!!

I vote for option 2. Just replace it and be done. The pilot screw is a fuel screw. It adds/subtracts fuel @ idle and part throttle. When I say part throttle, I mean 1/8th or less in general.
