Default 43mm HMAS Fork Interchangability?

Anyone know if the upside down fully adjustable 43mm HMAS forks on the RC51 or 1000rr will bolt on to the VFR triples? ANy issues with break mounting and/or wheel axle?

COnsidering a VFR but need a little more adjustability.

Thanks

RC51 forks can be used. Not sure about the 1000RR's but I doubt they will work just because that bike is set up different. The RC's brakes are bigger, best thing to do if your looking to do this swap is to get a hold of the forks, wheels, brakes..etc off an RC51. Do a search on here for rc996 posts. He has thsi swap on his Hawk. Its a nice upgrade, but your going to spend some cash doing it. Look into Race Tech springs is the route I would tell you to go.

Utah996,

Thanks for the reply.

When you say the brakes are bigger on the RC, are you speaking of caliper size or the distance between the mounting holes?

I will check out the thread you mentioned.

I guess I need to find the diameter of the top and bottom triples on both bikes. Any insight there?

By bigger I mean the rotors are not the same size and the caliber mounting is different, which if you had the time I guess you might be able to fab something up, but its easier to get the whole set up together. I think there are actually some folks from a 2003 RC for sell on here right now.

As for the triple clamps, you will need them off the RC. Or at least the upper. As for distance from the upper and lower triple....I guess I could go outside and give you a rough messurement since I have both bikes outside.

The distance between the upper and lower triples are the same. Or pretty damn close.

Hey Greg,

The RC51 forks do work on the VTR. But the triple clamps are completely different. You have to use the RC51 triple clamps, front wheel, brakes, etc. I used 929 clipons below the top clamp. 929/954 forks work too but are shorter and clipons end up lower. Head height apparently has to drop with the 929 forks.

Good Luck

Default RC51 front end conversion

If you use the RC51 SP1 lower triple and a CBR 929/954 upper triple, it is possible to mount handlebars above the upper triple clamp.

I found that mounting bars below the RC51 upper triple on my VFR would foul the inner fairings.

Here's the handlebars mounted above the 954 upper triple. They're modified Helibars for a Duc 900SS
