Default New to the board with a ? or two

Got my first V-Twin on Saturday... 2000 VTR1000 and I am very impressed. I've looking over posts concerning front suspension with alot of great info to be found...

I stripped the fairings off to do a good cleaning.. now... with the low beams on... when I goose it, the hibeam indicator flickers at high RPMS and cruise mode... and the headlamp flickers as well... furthermore... with the high beam on, the lamp flickers as well. Question is... is there a commom ground or wire that I missed or messed with that someone could point me in the right direction to look?

Second is baffling...

after 10 minutes or so on the freeway... (~80mph)... my right hand goes numb!!! not both hands, just the throttle side. I tried to combat this with altering my grip and whatnot with no success... any idea? If I cruise around 60-65mph.. ( not likely in SOCAL) I have no problems....

It concerns me for a safety issue... I cant feel the brake on my fingers, though I know its there, but the lack of feeling could cause an unwanted amount of braking and that could be REALLY bad..

thanks

Try supporting more of your weight with your back and less with your hands. This will loosen up your hands, arms and shoulders for steering the bike.

Thanks... helped a little but I think its coming from the front tire... its cupped and may be out of balance.

I can see a slight 'shimmy' at speed and slows when I slow down...

On my 1st ride of my 98 VTR1000F both my hands were numb and I knoticed the grips were worn and so I was going to replace them, but you say that does not work? The front tire is fine and the bike is stable at all speeds. So now what?

God Bless, and ride smart,

Stuart

Try a new set of gloves

Some gloves put pressure on nerves that in turn put your hand to sleep. I suggest finding a set that is not too tight around the cuff area and has a decent pad in the palm area that does not bunch up while making a fist.

Big heavily padded gloves will actually make the matter worse. Look for a well built set that are pre curved and you can not tell you have them on while holding your grip.

try not holding the grip so tight. I've only once had this problem, when I was at the track. Just try relaxing your hands.

Default Numb....

Also check your leathers/jacket, I have one set that is a little tight under my armpit, and it makes my hand go numb after a few miles.
