Default Worth the money!

I got my new Racetech Springs and Valves installed on Friday and spent the weekend riding W.Va and Md mountains. What a difference. Bike is firm and confident in turns, but floats over RR tracks and potholes. Why didn't I do this sooner?

Now the shock has to go. What bolts in besides a Penske? I'm looking for something stock so that my wife's head won't explode when I spend more $$ on the bike.

Has anyone changed to the Race Tech spring without changing to gold valves. There has been some discussions on other VTR sites about only needing to change the spring for the appropriate weight of the rider and that changing the valving was overkill. Maybe just use heavier oil in the forks with the springs.

Ohlins makes a rear shock for the VTR. About $ 825 in some catalogues. Probably the next addition to my Superhawk. Enjoying the Race Tech internals I bought . Went for the Gold Valves too, they said they were needed too cope with the stronger spring rates ( .88 kg/mm vs. 58 kg/mm on the stock set up with my weight of 185).

Here is a link about doing the stock suspension without GV. http://www.ablett.jp/bikes/vtr/vtr_sus.htm Roger is the same guy that helped me to get my frontend setup. 100% great guy!

It's not absolutely necessary, but if you keep an eye on Ebay you can pick them up cheap. I got mine new and unopened for ~$82 shipped. If you are going to be tearing into the forks then why not do it all?

I keep looking at shocks, but my wife's head would explode if I dropped that much cabbage on a shock right now.
