Default Dealer damage from service

New to the board. 1998 Superhawk with about 23K on it. Love the bike. Due to newborn, I decided to have new tires put on at a local dealership. Their tire prices were way too high, so I provided the tires.

I was unable to pick the bike up same day as I discussed with the service manager. I got home around 6:30 pm with a message "Call the shop ASAP" from the manager. The next day I call. "Uh, we had an incident at the shop yesterday."

A couple of weeks ago there were temps are 75 degrees in parts of California. The bike was parked "out back" on 9 month old asphalt. Gee, warm day, side stand, asphalt...BAM!

It is going on 10 "shop days" with only 50% of my phone calls returned ("I just got a box of Honda parts in but haven't opened it"). I saw the bike the following day. Every piece of plastic on the left is going to be replaced (mirror, signal, upper, seat cowling, etc.) along with the bar end, clutch lever, and exhaust mounting bracket.

Anyone with suggestions on dealing with the dealer? I have a feeling they are going to try and stick me for $80 labor for the tires.

It sounds like the dealer is going to take care of it for you. So I wouldn't worry about that part.

You did take the bike in for tire service and I would expect you will be asked to pay for that.

That's why I take my wheels off and take them to the dealer for tire mounting. That and the fact that they can usually get them done in a couple of hours instead of days.

Good Luck!

Default Re: Dealer damage from service (VTRRR)

...and the saga continues. It has been over three weeks since my bike was damaged by the dealer. I was told by the service manager that "3 parts haven't come in, but the bike is rideable." The parts are a LP flushmount signal, 2 Bros Exhaust hanger, and the front Tupperware lower fairing. Not exotic hard to find stuff.

I picked up the bike (dead battery of course) and told them to call me when the parts come in and I'll bolt them on myself. Everything else on the bike has been fixed.

That was on Monday of last week. I didn't pay the labor for the tires as the "No" Service Manager was not there.

I've got my bike, but still isn't the way it was when I dropped it off. I can't figure out if I should live with what I've got or further attempt to get the parts. Any ideas other than don't go there again Thanks?
