Leave it to HONDA, to go from one extreme to another!

To throw a Shafty "Shaft Drive" on this too... FUK

I Just wish HONDA would quite screwing around with all the gadgets, ABS, V-Tec,.. run on 2 cyclinders, cutting 2 while cruisen' blaa blla blaa and electroincs to the max... and build a kill friggin' 1000cc V-Four Sport Bike, Make it Light and make it right and they'll Sell! My for the last 7+yrs on this topic... Ofcourse V-Five would have been nice too..
Had Mr. Honda been alive today.. I BET any amount of money, WE ALL would have had a chance to buy street going "TYPE" of RC211V

However,.. I am without a doubt... looking forward to seeing how She\this goes, I'm just afraid she's going to be too Heavy and NOT Sport drivin' enough...?

Honda trying to beat BMW at its own game...
Despite all the fancy technical gizmos this bike is aimed fairly and squarely at the K1300S. How long before, BMW style, they'll also put out a "naked" a la X11 (K1300R) and a tourer (K1300GT) using the same powerplant and as many components as possible? Oh, wait, a tourer to replace the not overly successful ST1300 is already in the works using this same powerplant.
Honda has gone to incredible lengths to to try and fix the old problem of their V4s, namely shameful specific fuel consumption. As a former VFR owner I can assure you all the horror stories about fuel range are true. Until I see the bike on the road I am inclined to say that this bike, for all its state of the art features, will barely be able to keep up with the K1300 in the fuel consumption department. Mind that for us Europeans fuel consumption is very important given our gasoline prices: that's why you see so many BMW boxers on the road (example: I filled up in Barcellonette and arrived home without refuelling, almost 400 km, or 250 miles, later).
But in the end it's nice to see that someone finally decided to challenge BMW at its own game... now all they need is a good large displacement twin to take on the Hexhead models!

Not my cup of tea. It will likely cost on the north side of $14k. There are literally a hundred models of new and used bikes I would spend that kind of money or less on before considering this one.

Rumours and speculation peg crank measured HP at 200 . Ok , here we go , is this mic on , am I being heard ? There is NO FVCKING WAY the Honda of today will release this bike with 170 or so RWHP ! I say 150 RWHP , which combined with the suspected heft , would make it fun for my wife . It should have been the V-5 monster we enthusiasts wanted .

Just a repost. The pictures from the Motoblog.it site were taken by a friend of mine near the Raticosa pass (south of Bologna). So it was not definitely taken on the Alps... credit where it's due!
Official presentation will be later this week.
Talked to a friend of mine who is a Honda mechanic and they still haven't given the dates for the official maintenance courses to dealerships though they leaked out that this engine will be "much less thirsty" than previous V4s and "considerably less bulky" than the present RC45-derived engine.
I hope my Honda connections will allow me to test ride it in person in the future...

Yup , just as I thought , 145 HP , so 200 at the crank my a$$ . Yet another competent , user friendly and civic minded appliance from trusty old Honda . Granted , it's fast but it could have been a truly exciting package -- i.e. a refined , shafty Busa with V4 growl , but to no avail .

A friend of mine has already bought one but hasn't been able to take delivery yet because he hurt his back at work and has problems sitting on a chair, never mind riding.

PS: if you want a more refined Hayabusa with a shaft drive there's always the BMW K1300S.

Nice rollout of your flagship , Honda . Let's see , electrical gremlins , AND metal filings in some engines ! Other than this , everything is great . Nice paint at least from the new ultra-modern facility , or is this going to peel soon .

Has anyone seen one on the road yet ? Not around here , and a friend in Berlin says the same thing . The local dealer has 2 (one manual , one DCT) still languishing for the third month in the showroom . Maybe the undiscounted price of $18-21,000can has something to do with it .

Just wait, all the pent-up V4 demand will flex its collective muscle shortly, lol

I've actually seen two. One belongs to a friend of mine who traded his CB1000R for it (ahem), the other I saw in Voralberg last week. That's it.
Dealers around here are not in different shape: bikes are sitting there waiting for a buyer. Who said last year that Honda would have had a showroom anchor on their hands? Hats down to him.
All in all I think Honda screwed it up on this bike. People expected the next coming of the groundbreaking Super Blackbird but what they got was actually an overweight BMW K1200S clone on budget suspensions. Reviews by the usually sycophantic press were anything but stellar, there have been some reliability issues (metal filings are just part of picture) and to top it all up Honda unwisely decided not send demos to dealers (at least around here). With budgets tightening up how many are going to buy this bike without even a brief test ride? Not even Larry, he played it safe and bought an old RC30!
