Default VTR sounds like a Ducati (ratling noise)

Hi. I am Jocke and I am a Ducati man so normaly you dont see me here. The thing is that a friend of mine has a VTR. It suddenly started to make strange noise. Simular to a Ducati dry clutch. I was thinking it was cool but not my friend. The thing is that he has a standard VTR with wet clutch and it should not sound like that. It is like a combination of a rattling Ducati dry clutch and also a bit of knocking noise if you know what I mean. It goes away when you pull the clutch in. Has any one heard some thing like this before? Is it a normal VTR thing? If it was a Ducati I would say dont worry but normaly Hopndas does not make noise so I am a bit worried for my friends bike.
Any recomendations?

Jocke.............

Cam chain tensioner. There are two. Generally when it first starts to act up. It will reset itself if you turn the engine off, then go bad again when you rev it. Later, its bad all the time.

Thanks for the reply but tt does not make sense to me.

Okey I dont know how the engine looks on the inside but why does the noise go away when he pull the clutch? Is that normal for the chain?

The CCT's are rpm operated. So when the rpms drop the chatter goes away. Mine are due to be replaced. There are $120 or so to replace if he does the work himself.

I too would say cct. The VTR'S are noted for that. My advice is to replace them with aftermarket APE manual tensioners. They are very easy to install, and the price is good too.
