Default BrightLight

Started a mock up for the new taillight, 600rr/1000rr integrated LED. I'm using cardboard as a template until I get my plastic. Its going to look badass , but will take some clever fabbing to get rid of the gap at the back of the light.

That is good to know. If you are good with wiring, maybe you can help me with it. Haven't tried to do it yet, but for some reason electronics and myself act like oil and water...

The light is a little smaller than I initially expected, but is going to look 'very nice.'

So, I've made some progress. Got the plastic and some rough cuts done. Bought some pseudo 'Rhino Liner in a can' which should make for durability and look decent. I'm using some of the stock undertail for structural integrity and b/c its easier than trying to relocate some of the electronics for now.

Also was able to get the light wired up a bit to see how it looks. Definatley brighter than stock...

just a curiosity question, are you spraying the spray liner on the outside or the inside, just because through time of cleaning that spray stuff may flake off but if you sprayed it on the inside you would still see it as its through the clear plexi, i could be smoking pot but just wondering if that makes any sense lol

it makes no sense, but great minds think alike... I'll be spraying inside for some texture for whatever I put in the trunk, as well as the outside. If it flakes I'll sand and re-spray.

Default Update

I should have been done 3 undertails ago. I keep breaking them somehow and it is really pissing me off. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. Had the fukr painted and hanging to dry. Turned it a bit to see how it looked and it fell and broke...

Oh yeah, I also burned out the motor of the first Dremel during this 'learning' process. Thank God for receipts.

So...

I'm going to buy another piece of plastic tonight and start over...again... at least it keeps getting easier every time I do it.

Mocked and wired it up for one final look before reassembly. It looks badass.

Anyone know where I can findout state laws about license plate location and illumination? I would like to put the plate further back to give it a clean look, but don't want the attn from the 5-o. I have a LED light for the plate, but the light from the brake illuminates the plate 'well enough.' Again, want to avoid unwated attn.

Finally had some time to get to this project and finish it. I put the license plate back towards the shock. It needs to warm up so I can wash this dirty beast.

If you look at the left hanger, you'll see the LED I hung to illuminte the plate. I didn't want to have it hang directly from the undertail or on the plate itself. So I made a bracket and used the hole I created connecting the new undertail to the original one. I'm happy with how subtle it looks.
