Default winter project pics

i imagine this will end up being a long post (i have nothing on eye-p though)

the VERY beginning

day one: teardown

day two was today, but didn't do much except peel some decals and begin plastic welding some stuff... took the tank off as well.

just finished ordering some decals and will be getting some random odds and ends to spruce her up a bit. as far as major aftermarket bits go, that depends on how work goes in the next couple months.

stay tuned! hahahah

a general teardown and cleanup, new paint... possibly some triples and calipers, and some other bits... likely some weight shaving etc...

i've owned this bike since 05 (5800kms) and as it sits it's got 45000kms, it's filthier than sin, ridden hard, put away wet, and just needs some tlc... hopefully by spring it'll be pristine so i can go about wrecking it again!

just thought i'd make a little thread with updates... god knows this image gallery forum is as dead as a doornail

I wish i had this much space for my baby.
And you're right, there has been a lacklustre approach recently of a lack of images being posted, but i guess, we've seen almost everything that everyone has done to this point.
Having said that, i'll post up and start another thread of where i'm at with my exhaust setup.

yeah I am doing a teardown of my bike aswell. The bike was pretty clean ( the previous owner lived in FLA) and he didn't ride it that much but what I am doing some extensive powdercoating, wave rotors up front to match my rear, SB lines front and back, general cleaning, camera tank mount, CF rad fins, CF clutch cover, bladerunner mod too name a few. The bike was set up with some fine ass parts when I got it but I just can't leave anything alone, damn these forums too many ideas!

my right side headlight is now filled in and cleaned up, also plastic welded the trunk lid onto the tailsection... so the bodywork is almost done, should be spraying paint right away here.

Very nice start there wibbly, seems like everyone is posting their winter projects might as well post mine up too. Good job there and keep us updated

BTW what kind of tripples are you going to put on her? The attacks or the gilles?
Its funny how ill most likely be in the market for some tripples as well and about a year ago i worked for a short time at attack kawasaki. Could of probably gotten a great deal, damn it go figure.

i really like the gilles, but attack is so much cheaper... i can't find attack triples for the sp2 though... they're not even listed on attack's website... weird

Reminds me of ME two years ago.

Here's what I started out with. Filthy and neglected, but solid:

it should not matter with them using their own stem. the 2002+ differes in the stem top and size of their top nut

does the sp2 not have a thicker stem all the way through? i would imagine you couldn't get an sp2 stem through an sp1 steering head...

and i've changed my mind on attack anyway, i found something unreal, i just have to track down a set

a sp2 stem fits through a RC30 too

the top triple clamp has a larger hole on the sp2 but the bottoms of the 01- and the 02+ are the same and the headstock hole should accept either bottom and the stem only needs the right top to go with the correct stem, could be wrong though

i'm pretty sure the sp2 stem is much beefier than the sp1... which would mean the steering head accepts different bearings on different races... i can't see a wide sp2 stem fitting into a narrow sp1 head
