Don't forget to take that extra spring off the cam gears either!!!! it's behind the silencer gear.
It too stayed on when I did mine over xmas.... luckily on one though it popped off and then I took it off them all! could have been a disaster!!!
Congrats, it's a good mod and can't believe how freely the bike revs without these weighing the cams down!!!!
what are you doing in the clutch side? Are you removing more stuff I didn't know about?
Looks nice though now everything is moved.... I wanted to do this also, still might it's a while until the season starts here...

Nice work HZ.....all those wires are a REAL PAIN in the ass....but my question is...did anyone ever put up a sound clip on the gear removal mod? I have never heard an RC with this set mod..I am told it sounds sick at idle?

got em today...
on the clutch side there are 3 more silencing gears. 2 on the bottom of the gear stackthat have to be cut off and one on the clutch primary drive gear. (BTW the bolt that holds on the primary drive gear is a left hand bolt, and the clutch baskets do NOT need to come off to remove this.)

i keep gettin questions, so i figured i'd post up some additional info...
2 gears are on the gear stack. they are the two that need to be cut off. The 3rd is on the clutch main drive, and is shown on the micro fische as the primary drive sub gear. This gear can be femoved by just removing the primary clutch drive bolt(its a left hand bolt BTW) it then comes off easily, and dont forget to remove the springs.
The other two gears are on the gear stacks on the bottom.
1st remoce the snap rings. then bend up the two washers (one at a time) and cut them off with a dremel. Then you can pry up the sub gear. You will make 4 cuts total. two outside cuts 180 degress from each other, which can be done with a dremel or a grinder with a cut off wheel, just be care ful not to hit the primary drive gears.
Then the inside can be cut about half way with a dremel, then you can crack it off with a chisl and a hammer or a screwdriver. Then make sure you clean out the bearings relly good with brake cleaner, to ensure all debris is removed.
then re assemble the engine.
note you have to remove the heads in order to get the gear stacks out, and to remove the gear stacks there is one bold on the intake side of the heads that has a crush washer on it...
note: you are gonna need new head gaskets in order to do this, so get them ahead of time
