Bike looks "purdee" vtr1000sp2. Ohlins always look better on the RC!

Arata exhaust looks good on her too.

Here is my beast at Crater lake half way through my San Diego to Portland and back to San Diego trip (3300 miles in 11 days). Tuned suspension (Ohlins rear & Traxion dynamics up front), a Sargent seat and my custom fabbed Givi box mount made all the difference. The bike was great on roads like the CA36, CA96 and the One. Yes, you can tour on a 51. And its not all that painful with the right set-up.

Thumbs up Hard bag on tail

Spookey, on the past couple of evenings I've been looking at the tail and how the few available spots to mount a rack for a Givi can be utilized to hold this together.

I wonder if you made this on your own, I;ve been thinking of making something that would replace the seat/cover with something that would pivot on the top hook anchor points and then it would latch where the seat pan, so the whole bag can unlock and tip forward.

You could do that, for sure. But since I have an OPP carbon tail and a hacked subframe, I mounted my rack (made with 1/2" stainless tube) to the exhaust hangers and upper tail body mounts. My rack attaches to the Givi the same way their racks work. You push the button on the box and it pops off.

Hey jiggyred,

I would LOVE some more pictures\ideas for your Hard Tailbag set-up! I do NOT tour my RC51 because of the ultra high mount canisters. So because of this, and this ONLY holds me back from any serious touring with her, since I know my soft saddle bags will not like those Exhaust canisters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

And Hey KentuckyKid,

How many miles are on your 04 (her? ) She's VERY Clean bro., Very Nice OEM (not counting the Slip-Ons) example.

By the way... NO Mirriors?! Please be careful man.. that IS dangerous

Peace Jeff

About touring, here is a pic of my VTR from this years trip to Germany.
Ive got a sport tack from Renntec that clips under the passengerseat and fastens under the two bolts holding the tail.

Then just throw a bag on top of it, and its good to go. Works really well, but of course only with a standard tail.
