Default need a little help from the rc gurus

ok, i am going to try to explain this as best i can. first let me tell you about my bike..03 rc, sp2. akro slip ons, pc3 usb with the pc map for the slip ons, other than that stock form, about 12000 miles. i have only had the bike for about a month now. when i bought it the p.o. was a novice rider and had the pc disconnected because he was alittle fearful to say the least. when i purchased it i hooked it up and checked the map and it was the appropriate map for the bikes current setup. it ran good for a couple weeks, but recently has started having idling issues mainly cold start, but also when the bike gets warm. at a cold start the bike has had a hard time staying running, seems like its loaded up, and also smells rich. the bike will not stay running on its own consistently until it hits about 180f. once warm enough it will stay running but have a low idle(about 1000rpm). it has stalled on me numerous times when coming to a stop at a light or stop sign. after a while of riding it will then find a higher idle(about 1500-1600rpm.) and it will stay at that idle until the bike cools down when stopped. it has been becoming more and more consistent at this. btw no fi light, no other issues and runs very well when riding. i took her out today with the same results stalled alot trying to warm it up and once got hot enough idle was again high. so i went home and disconnected the power commander and started her back up. bike no longer smelled excessively rich, and the idle was about where it should be. i took her out and in all honesty it seemed to run even better and idle no longer changed, however she was allready at operating temp. soo....is it my pc, or is there another issue looming that i need to look into? where do i need to start looking? i am curious to see how it will act in the morning with the cold start.

Sounds like either the map in the pc3, or the pc3. I had an issue with mine after it was a few years old. The bike would just shut off and lock up. I would shut the key off and back on to reset and it ran fine for a bit. I unhooked the pc3 and all the issues went away. It has been that way since.

Yeah. I am hoping that the pc 3 is the culprit. I dont think I need it with just a set of slip-ons anyway. Btw the plugs have maybe 500 miles on them.

Ok. So.....i went out this morning and tried a "cold" start with the pc3 disconnected. Started right up without choke and idled nicely. So. With only mods being alot slip ons, do I need the pc?

Save the map that's on the PC. Then zero out the map(put zeros in all the squares) load the zero map into the PC. If the bike runs as well as without the the PC then the PC is probably ok and you have a shitty map. Get custom map made on dyno.

Maps do get corrupted on power commanders from time to time. Take a look at the map that is on there and (if it is a canned map off the dyno jet website) compare it with one downloaded off the site.

Yeah PC's Can be effected by people charging batteries, jumping off bike etc...Like B Miller said it could've corrupted the file. It defiantly sounds like its on the PC causing ur issues, wether its he map, corruption or otherwise.
As far as do u need it, well the RC51 usually benefits from having one, thru smoother throttle response and overall maes it less abrupt, however u don't ness need it.

The difference between a tuned motor and a stock map is ENORMOUS
