Default Aprillia rsv1000 '00 ohlins in rc51 2000 ?

I'm able to buy some freshly serviced Aprillia RSV '00 ohlins forks incl.triple's for my RC '00.
Has anybody here experience with this swap ?
I don't have the measurements of the fork yet...

The mille/tuono top yoke is 51mm on the ohlins forks and the bottom yoke is 56mm, i believe.

i would be wary of the length of the aprilia forks. but if they are ok for length then you can likely press an rc stem into the ape triples and run the ape front end. but remember that for simplicity's sake you should run the ape front wheel, brakes, fender and clip ons. its not very easy to do a partial front end swap.

Some measurements are found here Aprilia RSV1000R RSV 1000 R 2008 Ohlins Front Forks Suspension | eBay

From a ape ohlins '08 fork...

Top yoke; rc= 50mm vs rsv=51mm.
Bottom yoke; rc=52mm vs rsv=56mm

Fork lenght top to axlecenter (no weight); rc=760mm vs rsv=740mm.

No measurements on axle yet.

From what I've learned recently your measurements are slightly off. The RC has a bottom triple clamp/fork tube diameter of 54mm and the forks are 755mm fully extended.

Some other info just in case you're not aware or if you consider buying a different year set of forks.

98-02 Milles are all Axial mount.

All 2003 first generation Mille's are Radial mount EXCEPT the Haga edition. The Haga editions are really 02 RSV R's and are Axial mount.

All the second generation RSV-R Factories are radial mount.

Let me know if you need some info or measurements, i have an 03 Mille R and can help you out if you need.

and the RC51 bottom is 54mm not 52mm like RC51racer stated.

This is going to be a very interesting thread and I hope your successful with the project

Touched on briefly but I believe the biggest problem with fitting a different model fork to the RC is the fork length as for some reason the RC forks are unusally long. I believe this can be over come by fitting a stepped top yoke similar to what is installed on the CBR954 but as far as I m aware nobody makes one so would have to be a custom made yoke unless you have another solution to the problem.

Default bearings offset lock-lock

I suspect no matter what size/diameter the stem is you will find bearings to match, but you should also measure the length of the stem.

You also have to bear in mind the difference if any of the offset of the clamps (although I'd suspect they are close in geometry) and how is your trail affected.

If the top tubes are wider you may also run into clearance problems and a decrease in lock to lock turning ability.

Just because they say ohh-leans on them doesn't mean they are better.

How about the wheel's axle torso on the RSV-R guys?

Is that 22mm like the RC's?

Does the RC wheel axle fits inside these Ohlins?

I've also found these measurements from an RSV-R's front fork

ohlins ZX14 will retro fit the VTR1000SP(with a kawasaki wheel or similar wheel and rotors probably

axle size is a little different, and rotor offset(hence using a kawasaki wheel and rotors-might need to suss out the axle length -or use the RC51 wheel with different bearings and spacers for the disc offset?

but the FGRT207/807 fork length and dimensions are the same as the VTR1000SP2's Showa's

I might try them out..
