Default Your favorite track day tire?

I'd love to get D211GPs or R10 but can't quite do that. What are you guys using? I'm leaning towars Dunlop Q2 or maybe BT S20. I need a DOT tire, will use it on the street afterwards.

I like the Pilot Power but the Q2 is definitely a better tire for the money. Pure is ok, but not much feedback. I'd like the power one race V up front and regular in the rear if I could afford them. Which ones do you run?

My first cbr had pirelli's , i thought they were amazing, and they were. but the price came into play. Bought a michelin pilot power rear and got hooked. As for track tires, i'm going with the michelin power race front and the rear i'm gonna go with the michelin power pure rear, maybe not, not sure. I also have a set of michelin slicks. I had initially brigdestone battlax's on my rc at barber. I should have swapped them but eh, what can you go. They just didn't grip like the michelin's im used too

Yeah, I like the BT016 ok, but the BT003 has more grip. Front just lacks a bit of feel. I would love to try the Bridgestone R10.. it's supposed to be really great. Just can't swing 400 for a set. 280 for the Q2s isn't bad. Especially considering I'm not competing. The Michelin race tires are sweet.

I'm excited to try the slicks out, will be different for sure. And yeah, 400 bones a set, yeah, i hear ya. I just wanna have fun, get away from everything at track days. When you tracking next?

Default Tires

Im using Bridgestone BT003rs with a 190/55 rear and I love the grip. I like these better than my previous set of Michelin 2CT's. I'm going to try the Dunlop Q2's in about 2 weeks, also in a 190/55 rear.

I agree with you on 003RS vs 2CT. Please do post your impressions on the Q2 vs the 003.

Somwhere in the southeast, but we really haven't decided for certain. VIR or Barber are options, but possibly Road Atlanta or Roebling Road. Might try to get in on a Ducati trackday with my suspension guy. Depends on what kind of deal we can get.

My buddy with an RSV4 loves Road Atlanta, he's racing there in June with WERA on the Ape. He's wanting us to go there. Roebling Road is tempting because I have a buddy there (Poolboy), who might get in on it too. And I have friends I can stay with. You ever been there? I understand you can do a whole weekend for 250.

I haven't been there. Got a buddy who lives east tn, he's been there a few times and loves that track. I could swing june probably. 250 for a weekend, damn, i like that. Barber was 400 for two days...

There's a few buddies i work with that have cbr 1000rr's. Never done track days. Might bring a few guys with me. My one bud has a 848 evo, she's one purty bike.

On the RC51 the only two tires I have tried are the Bridgestone 003 and the RT10, neither on th track yet just hill carving. The 003's were great and the RT10 was even better, good feedback. 190-55 on the rear for both.
I was always used tO the Pirelli supercorsa's before when I raced AFM. I want to try the S20 though for my next set of tires as I hope they will last longer and are only $280 at a local shop mounted out the door.

So far, my two favorite tires have been the Pilot Power 2CT and the Q2. However...

The S20 is the game changer. This right here is THE tire you've been waiting for. It combines the best of the Michelins with the best of the Q2's- monster rear contact patch and sharp response from the Michelin, and braking stability and super linear steering from the Q2. They do this by giving the front a round profile very similar to the Q2, and the rear gets a more triangular profile like the Michelin. Interestingly, the rear S20 compared to the same size Q2 or PP2CT is taller and narrower than both, but when leaned over (in the shop, mounted to a wheel off the bike), it appears to provide a larger contact patch than either. We mounted a set of S20s on a GSXR1000, and they made the bike feel as tossable a 600.

If you're in doubt, buy the S20s and if you don't love them, sell them to me. But only if the rear is a 190/55.
