Default What weight oil?

I'm stopping to buy some oil for the RC on my way home and forgot to look at what weight oil to get. Does somebody know off hand? Thanks!

Dam, I better take the 20w-50 out of my 03 RC51 with 38,000 miles, and running perfectly, quickly...

ln the hot summer I have been putting in 20w-50, as soon as winter or the cool months come, I use 10w-40.

face it ole' man.....you got a rare, factory experimental bike that's different from ours, that will run on water and uses Veggie oil in the crankcase and will last forever.....

20W-50 is excellent in the warmer weather states/climates.......!!

Scootr is the man. I have corresponded with him numerous times, and he highly recommends

MOBIL 1 15-50 FULLY SYNTHETIC (RED CAP) OIL

Since he makes his living testing oils, and is NOT affiliated with any brand, I take his word for it.

The only thing I was wondering about that was clutch slip, it’s not bike oil and not designed for wet clutches?

Scootr said that it does not have the additive package that most have, since it is so heavy an oil, and not used in most vehicles.

He said that the primary reason that most manufacturers recommend such a light oil is it gives a LITTLE increase in power and mileage from less internal drag, and causes the engine to wear much faster, helping future parts sales, if ya get the drift.

The industry standard for big rig engines is 1,000,000 miles before overhaul, and many of them use the Mobil 1 for that reason.

Well the real proof is in the pudding if you guy’s have used it and you’ve never noticed any clutch slip then I think I’ll give it a go, any problems with winter starting?

Man, this bike just gets better with age!! And I use the cheap Honda Pro oil too. Stuff cost me about $3 a quart.. I change it every 3 to 3.5k.

You are right about that, this bike is just going to keep on running, running, and runnning...

Up until now, I have used Motul V-Twin Synthetic. But... I will be switching to the Mobil MX oil. Scootr tells no lie. Sportbike magazine also did an oil analysis article once and their tests showed the Mobil brand to be the best of the bunch. I believe it cost a little more than most others - but well worth it.

Thanks for the information. Now... I just need to find a shop that has the Mobil oil.
