Question Gerbings Heated Vest

Gerbing's Heated Clothing - Heated Lite Vest Liner

I just bought this yesterday and I'm just curious if anyone has given it a try?

I cant go out today but i plan on trying it out tomorrow, and the high is 46 degrees. So in my anticipation of trying this thing out I'd like anyone's input on how well it works. I have high hopes for this thing.

I plan on wearing the cold weather under armor, the heated vest over that, and my leathers over that.

Any input would be nice, thanx in advance.

by the way, im looking for some riding buddies in north western virginia

I have a Widder heated vest, works great down to about 35/40 degrees. At that point you really can't tell it's working. But from 40-70 it's great if you need heat. I'd suggest getting the arms too.

I would think "Heated Hand Grips" would be more important then arms.... Yes/No?

Does either of you guys have the "collar" on your vest(s) or no collar?

Brandon, dude you've got a crap load of RC riders out that way!... Now how many of them ride on the street, that's another question.

I have the jacket liner and it is heated in the sleeves and coller and i have used it in 40 dagree temps I also have the remote temp control so I can dial in the temp most cumfy (40=WFO) one thing I noticed is that as the rpm's clime performance increases, for me if/when the RPM's drop below 3000 I shut it off, the jacket liner draws 77watts and I could'nt begin to tell you what kind of draw that is and what the RC is putting out, I can tell you the summer after the winter I used the liner I had to replace my battery, however it was 5 years old, just got me a pair of the heated gloves which I will be trying out this weekend, the jacket has pig tails in the sleeves that plug right into the gloves.

I was looking into heated grips once and talked to a few people, general consensus was that the bars tend to ack like a heat sink so it takes a long time before you actually get any heat out of them.... So I'm going to persue some heated gloves, it's my hands and fingers that get the coldest anyways..

Not true. I've installed heated grips on numerous bikes and currently have them on two of my street bikes now.

Let your bike idle for a minute or two and you're good to go. Plenty of heat.

While the heated grips are super in town, I will say that on the hiway they are marginal. The heat is localized and your hands can still get cold. But I still love them. It's a good $30 option.

As far as the vest goes, this is what really keeps you warm! It's around your torso keeping your core warm. What a difference! You guys should check out the Aerostich heated vest or jacket. Pretty sweet.
