Default PC3r & Laptops

I have a question about my pc3r and my dell inspiron 6400 laptop. I brought this laptop a few months ago and I'm trying to hook my pc3r up to it. It does not have the regular 9 pin serial adapter on the computer so I brought a 'Belkin' usb to serial port adapter cable. For some reason, this computer want install the Belkin product. The dell guy tried to help me for an hour or more and couldn't get it to work. Is there anything else out there that I could get to use or do I have to go back to the ol' school way, carrying our desktop outside with extension cords and using it to program the pc3r. Reason for reprogramming is because bike battery went dead if anyone needs to know.

You usually need to download and install a driver for those 9 pin serial / USB cheater cables.

Cant afford to buy a pc3usb (unless you have one and you want to trade)

Tried that. The customer tech at dell support did also. Tried other things also. Nothing really worked. Told me to call Belkin and talk with them.

I got a PC3 usb off ebay and it didn't come with the usb cable. I didn't think it would be a problem but it looks like it is. The port in the Power Commander doesn't look like a regular usb port. Anyone know what type of cable I need?

Yep, thats the same one with the 3 lights. I will check out belkins site later tonight after I get off work and see what I can make happen.

As for you Crash, I'm not sure what type of port comes off the pc usb commanders. Maybe one of the other guys can help you with that.

FWIW and FYI,... The map in the Power Commander will be unaffected by your MC battery dieing....

As for the rest of the info. you seek, I do not know about the cables and or ports you would need for the PC111-R... sorry

Good Luck,

I don't even know what the vista is or does, it was just included in the price tag. I basically brought this computer for the wireless internet and to use occassionally for the bike pc.
