I think I have an exhaust leak on the rear cylinder. Is there a trick or something to get to the lower bolt? Seems to be little to no room to get a socket in there. Am I missing something?
Are you sure you have leak? Ive heard if you spray around area with under arm deoderant it will show if you have a leak, would hate for you to snap the bolt if you over tighten.

Well, I hear something, and the rear pipe turns red sometimes. That's usually the tell-tell sign that there is a leak.

Just cause the rear pipe turns red doesn't mean there's a leak. If you're running a map that too lean, that'll turn the pipe red, and the leak is just another problem. The rear pipe on these bikes turn red pretty regular and no leaks are present. Heated exhaust gases from an engine running at 5-9K rpms, pushing through a 90* bend of thin wall pipe will do that....
The gasket fot the pipes is similar to a "crush" gasket and can only be tightened so much, before it just becomes ineffective any longer. Replace them and be done with it, especially if you KNOW that the header's been off before and the same gaskets were reused. The gaskets are about $5.00 each from Honda.
The header has never been off. I bought the bike with 1,100 miles on it. I've never noticed the pipe turn red before. But read on another post (using the search function) where they said it's normal for the rear pipe to turn red, but didn't explain it.
I know lean maps will turn a header red, but I think my PC3 is mapped too rich. I'm running Mori Low with DK maps for Mori Lows.
But if you say that normal, and what you say makes . I'll put it back together, and ride.
The Mori map is pretty conservative for a lot of pipes that are used. Great map for trips as it gives better gas mileage, but it's inherantly lean. Try the Sato low map and see if anything changes........
I'm willing to bet that red-pipe thingy gigamagig goes away......
The deodorant thing is for oil leaks.... not exhaust. Dave.. wanna chime in on this one...
