Default Online Oil Purchase... Where to go???

Some of you speedzilla members have a great talent for knowing and remembering where the best sites someone like me has never heard of for purchasing simple things like oil and filters for a couple of RC51's. Or better yet, maybe there is a member who operates a business that specializes in this criteria and can help themselves out by helping me out .

It is nearly June and believe it or not I just got the RC51 insured and will be spending today prepping it for (sigh) commuting duty . Which reminded me that I went all last year without an oil change and regardless of the fact I only logged about 1000 miles last summer, I think it's due for some new blood. My brother's 02 RC is in the same situation.

We faithfully use Motul 5100 and Honda oil filters. We will need 8 quarts of Motul 5100 and two oil filters. Also, looking to flush the coolant in both bikes and are opting to use Engine Ice instead of the stock green stuff. We are open to any other coolant suggestions since these bikes love to hit the 220 degree mark on their short and slow commuting miles so chime in if you have found a good cure other than front rads or rad scoops and manual fan switches.

I know of the usual places like RonAyers.com but I am looking for a new online oil supplier or a trusted member of this board to send my business to.

Reply or send PM's if you can help us out. I can tell you where to find the cheapest and best running shoes online or even bargains on hockey gear, but I have been out of the online motorcycle shopping loop for too long to know where to go besides the obvious sources. Thanks to any and all who offer their advice

Its not Motul but Ive had better luck with the Repsol oils. The bike makes a healthier sound from the engine. I just took a look at the website and www.sportbiketrackgear.com does have Motul products just not the oils listed. They also carry Repsol. Id imagine if you called up and talked to Brian they could probably get what your looking for but consider a change to Repsol as I have had a great experience with it.

If Brian cant get it then look at http://www.sportbiketechnology.com. They list Motul as a product. You would definately have to call them as their website sucks. Deb is a good person Ive shared a few drinks with her in the past.

Thanks James. The Repsol is a good oil to bring up in your reply as I have been leaning towards a switch in oil. If I do switch to Repsol branded oil, which specific bottle am I looking for? As in do you use full or semi synthetic and do you use a weight other than the trusty 10w40?

In the meantime, I will check those links you supplied.

Ronayers.com has the repsol oils for a couple dollars cheaper per quart. Times that out by 4 quarts and suddenly the 8.00 of shipping and handling seems worth it. Imagine the savings when I add all the other chemicals and filters for both bikes that are in need. Unless sportbiketracktime is offering free shipping, which they probably aren't, then it looks like my hopes of finding a cheaper alternative online has been dashed.

All this could be avoided if the not so local Honda shop carried what I needed, didn't hit me with the canal tax in addition to charging more than it's worth, and were convenient. But it's not. So like nearly everything else I used to shop in stores for, I now also shop for all my bike needs online. I bet I start ordering groceries in bulk online in the near future

It's a little pricy, but have had great results.

You might check these guys out. Cycle Gear - Motorcycle Apparel, Parts and Accessories For coolant, I would reccommend Honda coolant, you can get it at any Honda Auto dealership, its blue now, and has all the stuff that keeps Honda waterpumps happy.

Im running 10-50 full syn. Last time I bought the Repsol stuff it was from ktmhutt.com. This was before Brian carried it or that I knew he carried it. A couple of dollars doesnt make a difference to me. Brian at sportbiketrackgear has been good to me in the past and I can only assume he will in the future so Ill continue to order the stuff I cant get through my shop from him. Im sure if you order enough youll get free shipping. I forget what their policy is. Your best bet is to give him a call and ask.

In my experience the local shops arent that great around here. I used to buy Repsol from one until they stopped carrying it. They do over charge for a lot of stuff but sometimes it just easier to go there get the stuff and be over with it.

I agree. I always get my oil and filters from my local shop (Repsol 20/50 Race Synthetic). They are always $4-$5 cheaper than Ron Ayers or SBTG and you don't have to pay for shipping. The rest of the items at my local shop are expensive, but not their fluids they sell.

Excellent advice guys. A couple bucks more certainly isn't a deal breaker for us and I like to support parts guys who deserve our business like this Brian guy you mention.

I too have ALWAYS bought my oil and filter from my local shops but this one closest to me is a real drag. It remonds me of all that made me hate being a bike parts guy back in my fresh out of college days. Just not a great vibe when I walk in there. I had good results with ronayers.com when I needed Engine Ice, Motul, and a Honda filter for the 00 rc51 trackbike when I was done putting the transmission back together on that previous winter project. I was just looking for good online competitor that doesn't start shipping at 8.00 per order, no matter what size or weight of the order.

When I get a moment, I will have to call this Brian guy and see if he stocks the things I need and give the Repsol switch a shot while I am at it.
