not true!

i made one because...

1. it was easy to make

2. it looked way better! (being painted on the inside gave it that always clean, super shiny look)

Still, here i sit over a year later still wanting and waiting for someone to make us one. I find it hard to believe some of you cant make a nice tail with LED lights and lenses out of cf or whatever. As i ride behind my friends RSV i often think about grafting those blinkers on to an RC tail, but its not the same nostalga. I have no problem spending $500 on a nice piece of tail or more if its done right.

Crazy as it might seem, i have been researching this for quite some time now.
When i took these pics, i was at head office in Japan, i was pushing my friends for more info on where to get these tailights, and as Simon's earlier post stated, these were only made for the factory Suzuka bikes.
Basically, un-obtainium.
Having said this, a friend of mine will be assisting me to make the LED setup, but the difficult part will be trying to make the clear lens cover.
I've already begun by re-designing the tail section (no pics yet) to emulate the factory one.
I'll keep you all posted of my slow and painful progress.
Cheers.

How about throwing this into the mix... FWIW, this was from a 2003-2006 600rr or 1000rr and I believe is factory, but not 100% about that. It's stamped Honda>Lens<PMMA Housing>ABS< but no part number.

I held it up to my 2004 so you can see it does fit the tail lines pretty well.

Hope this helps..............

we have a lot of "scooters" 50 cc bikes over here which have similar signal lights ( not clear glass unfortunatly ) , it just would take a lot of time to try different brands ( peugeot, gilera , ktm , etc ) or am i thinking to simple

i want one of these tails bad. Are they the race tail style with the bigger hump as opposed to the OEM? Hmmm what can we do to get those clear pieces? im guessing you pumped yoru guy for who actually made them. any idea whos got an enduro tail we can barrow or copy?(youre probably way ahead of all this).

In others responses to price and demand...

I would disagree with the price comment. There should be no reason why it costs a lot if you have the know how.... I am pretty confident that it could be tailored with a prod method that I had used for a few parts I made in carbon. It's doable but I would just have to research working with thermoplastics... I only have a limited knowledge base with thermoplastics. Unfortunately I don't have time along side school at the moment to even try such a challenge but it really is enticing. Perhaps on my summer break!

one challenge that does exist is the manner in which the stock tail plastic needs to be taken off and put back on. There is significant twisting forces that would crack a solid mount setup, so it would necessitate a removable unit .... and cutting a notch into the tail to even mount it
