Default The "other" bike

So, besides the RC, I've had this other bike that I've (with the help of some friends) been tinkering with for about a year and half. When I got it, it was a trackday bike, just about stock, and although the motor was in good shape (internals looked at and verified) the exterior needed some work.

This bike will never be showroom quality, but building it back up is fun, and it should still be a head turner when complete. It was taken completely apart, down to the frame, some parts coated and others replaced. Here is where she stands now......

as of this morning, still a little ways to go.

These projects are so tedious and time consuming, progess is small...took over an hour to get the rear tray right

new battery in today, spilled acid everywhere

let there be light!

progress

as she sits now

still have to put on the brakes, exhaust pipes, install the clutch, chain, other misc crap that you find out that you forgot to do.....

Today I bought like $80 worth of stainless steel bolts and replaced everything (or at least most of everything)

Should look good sitting next to the '51

as stated in the links above, it's a Handy lift. and - they are located in Marshalltown, IA . . . . right down I-35 from you. looks like you're close enough to drive down and pick one up right at the manufacturer. save some coin on shipping and get a possibly get a 'deal' on one since you can pick it up on your own. a friend of mine did that and got a pretty good deal on his.

Not much CF on it. There will be a CF front sprocket cover, clutch cover (open), heel guard and that's about it for now. All this little stuff is what takes a while to get perfect, but it should be nice soon enough. Before I tore it down I only rode it around the block a few times, so I'm anxious to get it out and compare it to the RC51. It will be kind of hard, now that I'm more track focused, but I can still take them both out for a trackday and see what each has to offer. Just by guessing, I'm thinking the 748 will have an easier turn in, might even be a little more stable (?), but the '51 will have the power advantage and maybe the better brakes.... not too sure

GOtta get it running first

Hey Phil.. looks sweet man! JFYI... my friend has a 748 and the clutch basket nut backed off and trashed his engine case so give her a little torque and locktite before you do the plates....

Once I get her up and running, I guess I can take my time and add the parts I want. Maybe next year a Termi system, a Breil Ducati sticker kit, 998-motor

Damn, she looks good. At this rate, you'll be done with her before I get the RC off the stand. Just a few more parts and several hours of labor to go...
