Default Last ride of the season

After having enjoyed my RC51 immensely for the last 6 months the time has arrived to put the old war horse away for the winter. Stabil in tank, oil/filter
changed, battery tender, cleaned .............check, check, check. The only
problem is I have to walk by it in my garage every day and don't know how
I will endure the next 5-6 months. You guys on the west coast have it made.
My friend who just picked up a BMW R1200GS plans to continue riding through
the winter, but the minute I can't lean or have to worry about cold tires is when I know its over for the year. So many thanks to all of you out there for sharing great stories and making 2006 a terrific year. Stay warm and be safe!

Yeah, that time is coming up pretty fast. I'll have to put my rig away and keep the 600RR out in case we get a heat wave in the middle of winter. Wouldn't want to get the RC full of road salt.

That pic is from your last ride? There are still leaves on the trees.

Yeah I think Yesterday, well technically two days ago, was the last nice day of the season. I rode from the time I got off work till 11pm before I put it away for the night. It's sad to think that I will not be riding for another 5-6 months. When I say "Nice Day" I'm talking 60+ weather and sunshine. I will still be riding but it won't be as enjoyable. At least your ahead of the game, I have to change my fluids and put stabl in the tank still. I hate the cold weather.... You know what this means....time to get a dirt bike

You would be surprised how well you bike preforms at 50* on a sunny day.Road temps can climb pretty high in direct sunlight and the big twin loves cool air. No bugs either. I have a few bikes so I also baby the RC.

The Northeast specifically Connecticut is nice with the fall foliage at this time of the year. Only problem is I can't leave early in the am with temps in the
30's and crap on the road. So, I leave later in the day and on every decent
set of roads you have the minivan parade or landscapers. Really puts a damper on everything. To just cruise around and do the ladi da with the RC51 is just wrong and sacreligious. I can't wait to get winter over. Come Spring, I will do my first trackday. This year I signed up with the Star School and had to bail because of a home purchase. Oh well..... Welcome 2007.
You warmer weather people really suck!

I rode monday up thru Adirondacks... was a little brisk at only 55 degrees, but well worth it. Hoping that just maybe we'll get a warm spell & can get one more ride in before preping for winter.

My 05 has 17000+ miles and will never be up. Last winter when the sun was out and the temp was just above 35 I was riding to work and I plan on doing the same this winter

I live in southern Ohio and I don't put my bikes away for the winter, either. I'd go nuts if I couldn't ride!

Damn! I'd give my left nut to ride through your Fall foliage, even in the rain. And I wouldn't be putting my bike away 'till there was snow on the ground. Some day I'm going to get a toyhauler and come visit you. 'Till then, I'm riding here. It's autumn, temps in the 70's, the RC's running cool, and the tourists are decreasing in number. I love California, as long as I can get away from all the people.

Yeah Baby! Christmas day is the only day I consider to be a 'winter day'. The day I bought my bike it was snowing. As long as there is no ice on the floor, I ride. But then I only have bikes, no other vehicles....
