My '06 RC51 was delivered to me today. Took her for about a 40 mile ride to get the hang of her. The only thing I have to compare the Honda to is my now-sold Triumph Daytona 955i. First thing I noticed is the first to second shifter travel is alot longer than the 955, but after a couple second gear misses, I got used to it. The problem I'm still having with the shifter is the toe peg is not long enough. I have to consciously turn my toes in to get them under the shifter. Also the peg on the kickstand gets in the way. I think a longer toe peg will remedy this as well. I really gota be careful downshifter, I imagine that the back tire can lock up if the revs are too far off. This is my first hydraulic clutch as well. It takes a little bit to feather the clutch properly as it doesn't have the feedback that a cable clutch does. I've noticed that the clutch fluid is already a little darker than the brake fluid. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? The engine is incredible! I can't wait to finsih break-in to feel all the power. The mid-range pull is amazing. The exhaust is more of a growl than a note. It's enough to scare women and children! I rode through Disney (Downtown Disney area) and one little girl actually started crying and pointing at me! I can't imagine what aftermarket pipes will do to her. The rads do throw out some heat. Nothing uncomfortable, but while cruising down I-Drive at 15 mph, you can definitely fell the heat. I hear some of you talk about reversing the cooling fans. Do I need scoops as well to do that or how does that work? (yes I know, reverse the two wires, but what does that accomplish?) I still have to do the free mods, including the soft-limiter. I think a softer seat is also in order, as I have no natural padding. That's enough rambling for now, thanks for reading.
Almost forgot...What tools came with your bike? All I got was a screwdriver, an allen key, one wrench, and something that might be used to hang a helmet. No spark plug wrench, spaner wrench, or even the right sized allen to tighten the mirror swivel. Am I missing tools here? Thanks.
welcome aboard man, you will love every second you spend with her. if you mad a little girl cry with stock cans i would hate to see what she would do if a set of satos or yoshis came by. after you get the mods done and get ready for pipes dont forget the PC it makes a world of difference

I need a bigger ass.
The side fins just look cool the best thing you can do is try and avoid slow traffic. Even with the fins estimated 15% in cooling it would be negated by lack of air flow. I never re-wired my fans although I did change my radiator fluid to mostly water though, maybe that helps, seemed too. Keep in mind the bike will run alot hotter for the first few thousand miles until everthing melds.
You didn't get a complete tool kit but no real loss, the tool kit sucked anyway. The tools were so cheap I think they only expected them to be used in emergencies only. My suggestion is to pick up a specific m/c tool kit like the one pictured here.
Cool man I am right over here in the melbourne area. we should go ride sometimes. I've got SATO low's on mybike and yes they do scare young children, it ****ing rocks.
Sweet. Definitely have to go for a ride then. Dying to hear the Sato's, people say they're the best. I get some pics up somtime this weekend, 'cause I know you guys have never seen an RC . I also bought a new Shoei helmet to go along with the bike, the FX 1000 Diabolic..a good step up from my Icon Mainframe.
Now I gotta get the suspension adjusted some. Anything I should looking at doing first in the adjustments?
Here's a quick question, do I have to remove the upper and lower fairings to get in there to do the PAIR mod? I also need to get in there and check hose clamps and so forth...

Study the pros and cons of every mod before you dig in. My best advice
I just finished the complete removal of the flapper system today. It required removing the upper fairing and was overall a breeze. But I imagine it can be cumbersome for others. I hear a lot of people having issues electrically after the soft rev limiter mod so do your homework on that one. Get pipes after break-in and before you do the PAIR mod. I hear the PAIR mod tends to reduce or remove all together the awesome popping on decel. I for one love that about my RC but others could care less. It is a preference thing so see what you like more before you dig in that far on the mod list. The Air filter mod is a breeze but requires the tank propped up or removed.
Like I said, break it in, make mental notes of the mods you must do, want to do, and others that you want to put on the back burner. The start digging in and enjoy

I agree with the popping. I love it. Ya my ears were ringing today a bit after my ride but thats a combination of the loud satos, the awesome popping sound and my breezey helmet. I wouldnt have it any other way.
