Default No start -- key on, no FI light, no fuel pump whirring

As the title says, this happened yesterday once, and again this morning:

  • All fuses OK. In neutral, kill switch in run position.
  • Key on, lights light up, tach does self test, etc.
  • No FI light and no fuel pump whirring.
  • Starter turns, but engine doesn't catch.
I flick the kill switch a few times, the FI light flickers on and off, and finally comes on like normal and the fuel pump primes the system. The bike fires right up.

After running around the block, I kill the bike with the key and restart just fine.

Could it be a bad kill switch?

Talking Yepper! By George I Think Hes Got It!

+1.......................As in me too!

You can open up the switch and take a look at the wires for corrosion?
Clean and spray some WD or better yet Silicone spray. Good Luck!

Thumbs up Check the relays....

Try this......

There are 2 relays in the rear of the bike. I believe one is the tip over sensor relay, and the other is the fuel pump/system relay. One of those relay's could have gone bad.

Mine did the same thing. Everything was working fine, but it would she wouldn't kick over.

I know that the relay costs like 30 bucks.

You can use the Headlight relay to troubleshoot problems with the Fuel cut relay and the bank angle sensor relay (all 3 are the same part). Swap the two in the trunk with the headlight relay, one at a time and test the bike.

Follow the battery cables and check all the connections and cables. It sounds like a battery problem, but it could be a relay or the kill switch itself.
