Default lotta grunt down low?

Guess this Honda doesn't have to have it's neck rung to get outta a corner.

Check out the Tach.

I wonder if being in a corner and running a slipper clutch would explain that....?

Is there a better photo? Like one thats out a bit? Asside from the tach being almost to nothing the helmet position doesnt look right to me. Maybe its the angle.

No the helmet is right. All of his corner pictures that I have seen show the same.

7000 rpms apexing a corner on a 250 hp motogp v-5 bike. Sounds accurate considering the fact that the more you lean the lower the profile of the rear tire, causing the rpms to drop.

After taking a close look the tach seems to be at about 6k. That's myself observation counting back from what seems to be 16 or 17 at the top.

Uhh, RPM's go UP when you lean in. The diameter at the tire patch gets smaller and therefore the RPM goes higher. Geez, I ride a Duc and I know that one!

Actually your RPMs rise as you lean over. You are going from a larger circumference to a smaller circumference. I think it is in Twist of the Wrist II that explains this. When you are on a 600 for example and you are almost to redline at the end of a straight that is followed by a high speed sweeper, you will have to back off of the throttle by 500 or so RPM so when you lean the bike over, the RPM will rise, you stay constant on the throttle through the turn and as you bring the bike back upright, you get back on the gas. This should keep you right below the rev limiter the whole way through the end of the straight, sweeper and exit.

There are too many variables here:

- He might not be riding at race pace
- It might be a tight slow corner (relatively speaking)
- He might have made a mistake and been a gear too high?
- And maybe he's doing everything right and still going along at 7k rpms; its the RC211V, that machine shreds the gnar

Here's the full pic, He's obviously on a hot lap.

I was amazed at how low the revs are. I bet that thing pulls like a fookin train at low revs. All the magazine guys that have ridden the 211 say that its amazing how easy it is to ride it fast. But thinking about the what the dyno chart for the 211 must look like, it probably makes about 120 horsepower in the middle revs.

I bet that thing pulls hard (for us, maybe not a GP rider) at 6,000 RPM's. Unfortunately none of us will ever find out how hard that is

Maybe he just missed a gear and the shot was taken at that time.

Nope, try again....the smaller diameter of the edge of the tire means you will have higher engine rpm given the same vehicle speed.
