Question Scotts Steering Stabilizer Install

I just picked up a used Scotts Steering Stabilizer off ebay and wanted to know if I can use my stock steering nut! or do I need to use the one with the open center. This is for a sp1. The used unit did not come with one. So I wanted to know if the stock one
would work.

thx

You will need a mounting kit, which I can get for you if no one has an extra one laying around

You'll need the special stem nut from Scotts. The stock one does not have the circumferential grove for the set screws to bite into. In a case of headshake it is likely for the entire damper to come straight up and out of the stock stem nut; which is not good.

You might need a shim also that gives some space between the stock fairing stay and the dampner. Not all models need them.

I still have the shim from mine, shout out if you need it. You have to fit the damper on the bike to know if you need the shim. (some do, some don't)
