made some more progress

got another little bit in the mail from scottsms, and also took the time to take all the old pad material off my cmcs. what a pain in the ass!

you'd think that i'd have changed the front signals out by now, but i've been lazy. not going to do it until i start the big solder party when my 600rr coils show up and i can install my quickshifter

i don't know why you guys had to wait so long, mine came right away

and here's one of my very understanding lady, who happens to ride a nicely sorted 07 600rr and my apprentice, Oliver, the shop tech weiner dog

Nice looking bike!

Did you give up the RC8? What gives?

I'm guessing you picked it up in the US?

I sold the rc8 in early 2014 iirc

it was a lemon. it blew 7 water pumps in the time I owned it, and also developed a case leak that required a complete tear down and re-seal. I was sick of it going in for warranty repairs every couple months, so I sold it.

after that I did a project 600rr, but needed a big twin back in my life so I went back to the 51.

this bike specifically started it's life in Oregon, but I purchased it locally in Edmonton

Cool.

Too bad about the RC8... has potential there.

did you go with the 51 again cause you can make it your own for cheaper then getting a Düc? Or you just love the 51?

I've been mulling over the idea of picking up an SP2. The SP1 is pretty clap right now... and parts are easier to find for the SP2...

the rc8 was a really nice bike aside from the issues. i had it with the full club kit on it and it made really nice power right from the bottom. smooth as silk but insane throttle response. it was really lively to say the least. also pretty light, mine was just a hair over 400 lbs full of fuel and ready to ride in street trim.

the 51 is just a really special bike, honestly i hate the ducatis. Sev has a 1098s that i just did some work on for him (belts, and general care pretty much) and it's bloody awful. just a miserable bike to ride. they buck and surge and are WAY too hot all the time, unless they are having their necks rung out at the track i find them to be generally irritating to ride, and the sounds they produce are terrible.

i'm not after the fastest bike really, and being back on the 51 now i'm just smiling ear to ear every time i ride it. i'm very happy with my decision.

If you decided to part with your stock mirrors or upper stay, I know a guy that doesn't mind sloppy seconds...

Welcome back Wibbly. The bike looks awesome. I'm jealous of the exhaust already.

I just got the type 2, twill, long stem for my GF's 600RR in the mail today and I have the type 1 on my SP2. I disagree, they ARE $300 nice IMO.

Welcome back Wibbly!
