Is that the same hawk you had from all those years ago. That's going to be ace. Exactly the way i wanted to go too. Maybe someday I'll splurge for the engine work on my old gurl.
Just barley finishing with the handling and stopping dept. on mine.
Lets see the chassis that power plant is going into. What have you done there?

Hey Chris! It's been a while.

It sure is! I still need to figure out the suspension and braking. Probably going to put my RC51 front end on her with an Ohlins rear shock. I wanted to go with Thorsten's Hawk kit but who knows when that will be ready. I'm thinking an RS125 tail section and a stock fuel tank, no bodywork. Trying to keep it as light as possible. Efficiency is my goal.

Sounds like a good plan. I've been sorting mine out for years, I'm just being real slow about it. If your going for lightness and efficiency, have you thought about fitting f3 internals into the stock fork bottoms? I'm sure you know you can get a lot of nice tires for the stock wheels these days too. I had a spare f2 and 51 front end at one time. Just lifting the two i could tell how much more the 51 was to the f2. Now this was 2 complete sets fork legs, brake system, tripples front wheels, clipons. I ended up just swapping the f2 front wheel just for the idea of getting better rubber on there. It made the bike a bit sluggish. The stocker went back on after not too long.
What gearing are you going with on the new set up?

I like that idea since it keeps the original look and front wheel. The efficiency in an RC51 front end is that I already have one.

I'm going to throw it on and see how it goes. I plan on doing quite a few trackdays with it this year and hopefully race it next year. I'll most likely go with multiple gearing set-ups for various tracks.

Thanks for the input Chris! We need to ride this year!
