Default 5 Gallon tank for the Hawk GT

Hey Ho to all the Hawk GT enthusiasts. In the coming weeks it will be my pleasure to offer a 5 gallon tank conversion kit for your Hawk GT. The prototype tank is complete and on my Hawk...I am only waiting for it to return from the paint shop where the tank is being color matched and the stock seat is being redone. When the bike is back, I will be posting pics here at speedzilla to showcase my 6 months of work to make this dream a reality.

Here are a few details to get you drooling and saving your cash

1. 5 gallon metal tank retrofit to fit with your existing tank rubbers. I don't want to divuldge where the tank came from yet, but I assure you, this tank was MEANT for the Hawk !! The secret will be out soon....don't worry, it's NOT the F2 or F3 tank. I think those look horrible !!
2. New vinyl re-upholstered stock seat which has a lowered rake in the rear to keep you from sliding forward...and added foam in the front to bridge the gap with the 5 gallon tank.
3. New petcock and knob(all you need to do is re-route fuel line)
4. All necessary hardware for installation and pics to help guide you.

Only minor modification is needed on your part, including re-routing the fuel line, removing a bracket and a little grinding (1/8inch) of the stop on the frame to allow the fork to key lock. The 5 gal. tank does sit more forward and shimms are provided to keep the triple tree from dinking the tank. Don't worry, it will all be outlined for you....like I said, I'm just getting you ready!!!

Pics will be coming soon..... so keep checking back

I will have 2 tank/seat conversions for immediate sale at the time pics are posted. Starting bid on eBay will be around $900.00

All you will need to do is paint the tank to match your bike if you so desire.

Thanks for your interest!!!

Eddie (macfartlane@cox.net)

Default hawk tank

Great idea.
Can you offer the members of this forum an opportunity to purchase and do a trial of this tank first, before ebay?
I think I might be interested for a right price.

Please post pics.
Thanks

Default Membership does have its perks :)

Thanks for the idea Sibex

I have been doing the trial run myself as I write. The prototype tank has been on my Hawk for a month now...and I am very confident anyone who purchases one will be thrilled.

I tell you what I could do....I will post the pics first here at Speedzilla....and wait a week or two before listing on eBay. If any member is really chompin at the bit to get one, you or they may make an offer...and we can go from there. If the price is right, I could offer it to those members first.

How does that sound?

Let me know as I am excited that many members have already contacted me with interest and are waiting for pics.

Sounds awesome, but what's with the seat conversion?

Default Seat conversion

The new tank needed to be mounted about 1 inch forward than the stock tank to allow for the petcock to not hit the rear subframe. This created a gap between the stock seat and the tank....and the stock seat needed to be trimmed at the front to follow the accent lines of the tank.

So, since the stock seat needed to be trimmed and padded in the front anyway, I had the saddle shaved in the rear to prevent the sliding everyone talked about

Killed 2 birds sorta

The pics will show.

Soon my friends....soon
