How many of them are there?

I was told by a race shop that stock is best.

Eight sounds about right. I used Barnett as my stock clutch started to slip after 60,000 km and new engine mods. Stronger springs in the kit are noticeable for sure. Will make your left forearm look like Popeye's in city traffic. Very happy with it though, an easy upgrade to do, too, just use the recommended tool (or equivalent) to hold the clutch center still when disassembling it. I learned the hard way and broke off one of the bolt 'towers'
