Smile What tires should I get?

Looking for any info on the widest tire I can put on the rear without rubbing the swingarm....and a front to match.

Street use only. Stock rims

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Eddie

I am using a 120-17 on the front and a 180-55-17 on the rear and have about 2mm of clearance left! Both tires are Dunlop 208's. I am also using a VFR rear rim and a 600RR front tim.

Hope this helps..

Default Thanks Shiggi

I just added that I'm running stock rims, in case that will make a difference. Thanks for the info, I've heard good things about those Dunlops. Eddie

I think 160's are the widest you can run on the stock rear rim. I just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Road's. I went 110-70 on the front and 160-60 on the rear.

They're awesome tires...Michelin's have always been on my vehicles since I first discovered the improvement to the ride.

Default Tires

+1, 160/70/17 , You Can Do 110/80 Up Front, But That Changes Handling Characteristics. Stick With 110/70/17.

Diablos in the sizes closest to stock have worked the best on my bike.

You should definetely go with the 110/80 in front. Even that is a little short, but it's the best we can do.

I liked the way 110/70's felt on my Hawks. Threw the speedo off but what do I care?

btw-the 180 is WAY off for that rim. 170 is too big, too. Fitting tires based only on swingarm clearance is a very uninformed way of doing things. My SVS with 25hp more than my built Hawk, doesn't want for traction with it's 160 rear ...

wider tires do not make for a better handling bike. i would stick with the stock size tires. what are you looking to do with your bike?
