Default Clutch ?'s

Im looking for a replacement clutch. Motor is pretty stock except for stage 1 jet kit, Unipods and Supertrapp. I really dont want a heavy clutch but a little firmer over stock wouldnt be bad. I will eventually build up the motor but I need a new clutch first.

Should I go after market? ie Barnettt What's the real benefit if my motor is still pretty much stock or should I just stick with stock plates and just get stiffer springs?

It depends what shape your current clutch is in. If just the frictions need replaced, (ie the metals are good) it's the cheapest way to go, around $60 or so. If the metals are blued/warped, then replace with the whole pack from Barnett. ($120) You can use either 2 or all 4 of the Barnett springs to tune the lever feel to your liking. With 4 it is a good bit stiffer than stock, but not what I'd personally call bothersome... ymmv.

So how long can a stock clutch be expected to last?

I have 38,000 miles on mine and it still is working fine.

Certainly depends on how you treat it. Neither one of my friends Hawks made it to 20k without needing friction plates.
