Default Chain length '07 GSX-R600 for tight gearing

I want to run a 15/43 or 44. My current chain length is 116 links stock is 114 links. Axle is beyond adjuster marks with the 116 link chain and 15/43 44 combo. Do I need the shorter chain? reason I ask is because this bike is new to me and the previous owner obviously was using this setup somehow sine I got all his spare sprockets. Currently it has 16/45 on it with the 116 link chain. That gearing combo is too tall for Barber. The axle slot will go back further with the 116 link chain but I have no marks to line it up with. The current chain has a rivet master link.

The longer you can run it the better. It will be harder to tip in but every other aspect of the bike will get better. Feel will go up quite a bit.

I recently switched from a 15/43 to a 15/45. Running Michelin Power Race 180/55 PR C/PR E at Willow Springs. I am much happier with the change.
