Question 00-03' Captive rear wheel spacer ?

Hi folks,
I have a 00' 750 race bike that has been through many hands. It was once Nate Kerns Hooters Suzuki. The rear wheel that came with the bike has what looks like a seal on the right side of the hub, it holds that shaped metal spacer for the right side of the wheel.

I have since bought 2 more sets of wheels for the racing efforts. Neither of these rear wheels has the seal that holds the spacer. When I change the wheel without it, I drop that spacer every friggin time.

I have checked the parts microfiche and it does not show a seal on that side of the wheel, so I guess we were all meant to drop that friggin spacer.

Who knows what spacer the race team threw on there?
I sure hope they didn't go with a slimmer spacer to allow clearance for this mod.

Who can shed some light on this for me?

Thanks, Hoov.

A guy on the WERA board says the seal I am looking for is off a 04' 750, I checked the microfiche and sure enough they added that seal.

part # 09284-37001 seal, rear wheel.

I will be ordering 2 when I get a chance. It's a minor issue but it really does irritate me when I drop that spacer.

It may not be as simple as I thought.
The spacer between the bearings also has a different part number between 03 and 04'. It is possible that center spacer is a little narrower to allow room for the seal.

If anyone has the info, please enlighten me. Otherwise I will check into it further when I have more time.

bump,
I'm still looking for a definitive answer.

I added the 04 seal to the 00-03 wheels and it fits, but it is causing drag on the rear wheel. Now I wonder if the 04-05 spacer is slimmer than the 00-03 spacer.
