what kind of frame sliders did you buy. i need some for mine. i bought a new 600.as for the track freakin unreal its almost effortless. i wish they had a gsxr forum like this, good sensible people, with good info.
you rang
Best sliders on the market actually they were the 1st. I have their bar end sliders, swingarm slider spools and frame sliders. I've used them for years now with good results.

i got some Shoguns from e-bay. they are ok. you have to drill the fairing on the left side. i used a 2" holesaw and it went well.
trackday at Road America went well today. i went out with the intermediates. they were mostly CCS guys getting track time in for the upcoming races this weekend. very few "street" bikes out there.
i felt great and the bike is incredible. i used the 1st session as a good warmup to shake 6 months of winter cobwebs out and get familiar with the bike. it goes exactly where you think it to go. it's truly telepathic. brakes are outstanding. i was on the fronts hard enough to float the rear wheel into turn 5 pretty regularly.
it is Fast. yes, with a capital F. i was seeing 166mph indicated on the long straight in 5th gear and it was still pulling hard when i pussed out and shut off for turn 1. my exit speed in the carosel was 98mph. i was going into 5 at 155mph and thru the kink before Canada corner at 135mph.
no i did not stare at the speedo all day. just a quick glance every once in a while to see what we were doing.
my Michelin Power Race, med compound tires performed perfectly. they were warm within half a lap.
some observations:
the bike needs higher rear sets. even with them at the highest of the 3 settings i was dragging my toes thru most turns. i'll be looking for them soon.
it gets good gas mileage. i went 215 track miles and used about 7 gallons of 93 octane Shell gas. that's nearly 31 mpg.
suspension is great as is. i'm going to jack the preload up a bit more on the forks. it was diving a little hard as i got faster and faster and braked later.
other than that it is hands down the best bike i've ever ridden. i felt confident and fast almost immediately.
here are my shaggey tires so you can quit calling me squiddly now and one of me suited up and ready to do battle.
200+ miles in one day? Wow, thats a lot of track time. I usualy barely break 130 by the end of the day.
30mpg on the track is incredible too. You must have been taking it easy on the engine, cause i can't see how anything could produce 30mpg while sitting around 9,000+ rpm for the most time.

Road America is a big place, nearly 4 miles around, so you get some good miles. it was a NESBA day and they run a tight ship. stuff happens on time and you get max track time. minimal crashes due to the fact that it was 95% racers out there helps too. i saw 1 red flag in my group all day.

9000 rpm? it's just getting started at 9K. no taking it easy here. that thing is broken in and ready to rock. i set the shift lite to flash at 14.5 (redline is 15) and banged shifts when it winked. tested the rev limiter a few times also. i was riding as fast as i ever have. not the fastest in the I group but not the slowest either.
i was impressed with the mileage also.

SQUID! Just playing mikeinwi...it sounds like you had fun out there...I always enjoy reading ride/track/race reports. I'm a little jealous too, I've been wanting to ride that track for a couple of years now.
I'll have to admit...I'll miss picking on you *sniff-sniff*

Squid factor?! Dude, you painted red lines on the edge of your rotors, put a Michelin sticker on your fender, put your name on your windscreen, painted your intake screens red...
You will fit in fine. J/K.
Figured I could help take some heat off of Mike...Here is my squid machine with painted tire's and stripes..
