St. Louis AMA Pro/Amateur Event Is On!
Sorry Banda, yours wansn't bold enough See his post for some more info: http://speedzilla.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35189
Like he said we talked to the AMA and Live Nation yesterday and it is happening on May 19-20. If anyone would like to help out for the amateur race, I'm sure they'll need workers, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the right folks.
Don't know about rest of you guys, but I'm pulling the WR out of retirement.

Purchasing tickets?
How are you guys buying your tickets to this event? Thru Live Nation in advance? At the track? I guess you have to buy seperate tickets for Fri and Sat but it says nothing of Fri. (Is there even any connection on Fri as mentioned in Cycle News?)
More importantly, does anyone know if there are any special discounts available?
Thanks!
Jim

Cycle News said:
"The St. Louis opener at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (May 19) will include a first-ever Friday night concert to kick off the weekend race event, which includes pro racing on Saturday and amateur racing on Sunday."
But I'm starting to think theres no real connection...

Thanks for the good info Banda.
I just noticed that the Live Nation ticket sales website says they also have a "$5 Discount Promo: Start:Fri, 04/13/07 12:00 PM CDT End:Fri, 05/11/07 05:00 AM CDT"

Man I can't believe Ticket Master charges a $6.50 "Convenience Charge" and $2.50 "Ticket Fast" (gee I get to print them out myself) charge per ticket. Just a 45% increase thats all...
I'm not cheap but I'm no fool either! Sure doesnt help in getting my non-race fan friends to go...
Can they be purchased elswhere without these ridiculas charges?

My guess is you can just buy them at the gate without those extra charges. Is it really possible to sell out? I doubt it.

That's what I'm counting on. I will only used Ticketbastard as a VERY last resort.

It may have changed by now but I called most of the Shop'nSaves in the west/north county area yesterday and they said they didnt have any $5 off coupons. So I went to the one on hwy 94 and picked up 8.
I may not need all of them so after I find out; if someone wants to come by (Near DePaul Hosp) and pick a few I may have some.

On TV?
That was some good racing.
Is (or was) the St. Louis event on television? I can't find it anywhere.

I've read that SPEED channel will be showing the Supermoto rounds this year.
No word on dates/times yet, though.

My weekend blew hairy goat balls.
My household water heater did its best impression of a British motorcycle some time in the days before Friday night - I came home from some practice laps with Chriscap to find that the water it was leaking undetectedly seeped under the vinyl flooring and infiltrated two rooms before making itself visible by warping the floor enough that a door wouldn't open.
Homeowners insurance deductable plus the cost of a new heater made my purchase of a set of Dunlop slicks look very ill advised to my wife. Damn the torpedoes! It's not the first or the last time that she's going to think I'm an idiot.
So I went through tech on Sunday and got in three good practice laps on the awesome AMA track (way more fun to ride on than to spectate over) when I hear a sound like a can full of rocks being dragged over a gravel road. Is that my bike? It was running well... lofting the front out of corners... I go a lap that way and decide to pull off and investigate.
Turns out the bolts holding my two-piece after-market flywheel backed out and sheared their heads off. No real damage done, except to the bolts, but with no puller, no impact wrench, no time, I had to back out of the day's racing.
I'll have it ready to go for Springfield, this Sunday.
Man, I am ticked - After days of sweating the urban cross sections and the dirt section, I had zero problems with them in that first short practice - then two stupid bolts end my day - mostly because I didn't check them.
Racing is a fickle mistress.
And plumbing. That's a fickle mistress too. Racing and plumbing, fickle mistresses, both of them.
