Bimota DB7 Your thoughts ?

I want one I want one I want one, Why shouldn't I buy one ? besides the fact that there isn't a dealer in canada and I would have to import from USA . I talked with the dealer in Colorado today, and the price I was quoted was in the 30K range, I asked if it was 31 or 39 but still didn't get a straight answer out of the guy , but he said he would email me with a out the door price.I've got a 999s for the road right now, and a KTM Superduke also for the road, but mostly in town rididng. I have a 1098 s for the track and am quite happy with that, I just want to up grade my road ride and the 1198 is a bit smaller than the 999 for long rides and I want some comfort when rididng long trips, and the1198 doesn't offer me that.

i was in the middle of selling my '00 te610e husky to a guy in canada when he checked and found out it couldn't be registered, husky/bmw hadn't applied for emissions clearance or some thing like that. just curious if this could be a problem? good luck, cool bikes,

A friend of mine owns a DB7, he says he has a "love/hate" relationship with it, his previous bike was an MV F4 1000 which he rode very hard and loved it.

He said if the MV ever made a mistake, it was his doing, so good was the bike.

BUT he believes the DB7 is trying to kill him! He says a number of times on the roads he often rode on the MV, the DB7 has tried to kill him, he says the DB's front will slide where in the same place the MV didn't raise a sweat, the problem he has with the bike is,

When he looks at it he's totally smitten, hence his love/hate relationship, he hates that he doesn't think it's as good as his MV but absolutely loves how it looks and can't stop looking at it!!

He has started messing with the suspension set up, as a number of tests say out of the box the setup isn't right, which he agrees with, what amazes him is that they could sell a bike where the standard "factory" settings are so bad.

I talked to him at length about it, he overall seemed quite disappointed in the bike BUT he loves the looks of the thing, he loves the machine work etc etc.

You also mentioned that you wanted something a bit roomier than a 1098, well you better sit on a DB7 as he says it's bloody small.

We do have Husky's in Canada ? so I'm not sure what the problem there was ? and there are some Bimota's running around here as well, so I don't thnk it will be an import problm......fingers crossed..but I will check before making a decision.....thanks.

It's kinda hard to take one for a test ride ,since there's no dealers within a 15 hour drive from me ? I am told they are much narrower than a Ducati....if thats possible ?

Importing a U.S. vehicle | Importer un véhicule des É.U. Bimota isn't listed on the RIV Canada website for vehicles permitted to be imported from the US. I am sure that is not the absolute final say on the subject but it does not look promising.

You can keep it at my place. Others have imported Bimotas into BC.

re: the husky, he couldn't import it - this was about a year ago. wasn't on the "list of approved bikes" referenced here.

I saw a Bimota in the Ducati shop for routine service last summer. They have to drop the engine out of the frame for an oil change. Nice looking bike, but that is just too much.

As it turns out, Bimota is NOT on the import list unless it's 15 years old or older it can NOT be imported .......UNLESS I get a letter from Bimota that states it is USA DOT street legal and meets Canadian spec...........going to do some hoop jumping now, will let you know how it turns out

Who has designed such a bike? Where is the culprit?

the motor is either a 1100DS or 1098. I don't see how you'd have to drop the engine out since the frame has to be similar to the Ducati's...

Expensive and Italian.

According to Sportrider very demanding to set up correctly and so rewarding if you get it right. Also a completely different Frame than the Ducati.

Well they're both trellis's with subframes. So, they're not THAT different. I've seen the bike up close and in person, it's probably the only machine that I could justify spending 30k for. Very impressive work.

No subframe on a DB7 . And for setting a bike up for max rididng,it's kinda like any bike, the more time you spend on suspension set up , the better it will be.......if you know what you'r doing(suspension wise) and heading in the right direction with the settings for your rididng.

structural carbonfiber is what "They call it" and no ,you weren't served, just pointing out that they don't use the common "sub frame" as other manufactures do, hence the big buck theory.....lol
