I've had nothing but pleasant dealings with California Cycleworks and Chris Kelly. I've known Chris since the early Ducati "big list" days. Even there he was most helpful and patient when answering my noob questions.

All this whining and talk about a "ban" just makes me want to order something from Ca. Cycleworks, just because. Better yet, I think I'll "ban" Evo Stevo by placing him on ignore.

Chris and CCW have been a huge positive for me in the 10 years that I've owned my Duc. Customer service has always been excellent and Chris has always been willing to answer my questions even when I wasn't shopping. I will continue to send him my business as well as refer other Ducati owners there. As a matter of fact, I just did.

I'm sensing it might be time for someone to make the switch over to sugar free Red Bull.

Wow, calling for a ban over an answer to a solenoid wiring question? What's wrong with the answer that either wire should work? It's a frigging solenoid.

None of us are perfect but Chris really does try to be a positive member of the community. I've found his advice & shop to be a tremendous asset the 13 years I've mangled & wrenched on my 900ss. He's one of the handful of folks I keep giving my business to.

Openly maligning another member of the community over such a perceived insignificant slight appears a bit juvenile. Of course I don't have all the info nor do I have a number plate and neither have I appeared on the cover of any club magazines; so take my opinion for what it's worth.

Although I've only placed a few orders with CCW, and the last order resulting in an embarrassing (to me) issue with my credit card, Candice was very professional and even followed up a few days later. They will have my repeat business.

It's very touching to see all the disciples testifing! You all can believe Chris when he says that he was very polite to the gentleman and just called to apologize but I sure as hell don't!

I have know Stevo for quite a few years, played music, ridden thousands of miles with him and have never seen him act out of character like this. Chris must have been a real asshole for Stevo to get this irrate!!

BTW, Stevo has retired from a very successful career working for the Veterens Administration in the field of Blind Rehabilitation. I'm sure if we could poll all of people who have had their life changed because of Stevo and the programs that he helped to design we would have many grateful people singing his praises!! He has done much more for mankind than selling parts for big boy toys!! I'm outta' this thread!!

Marvin- No one is saying that "Stevo" is an a-hole in general (from your observation it sounds like he is in fact a good guy), but you have to agree that his email to Chris was highly out of line and unprofessional- REGARDLESS of what was said to him by Chris!! It doesn't matter if Steve has 15 degrees or that he plays the hell out of a harp!
Everyone has a bad day, some react more (shall we say) *vibrantly* than others... But, don't make a post bashing a proven, highly respected vendor when this is clearly an issue that could have been resolved off-line. Furthermore, looking for sympathy after sending off an email like that is not advised.

Steve- I'm sure you're really a great guy, but after several face-to-face dealings with Chris; I can promise you that he is too. Hug it out with him and let's ride some Ducati's.

He may be a good guy, but it does seem like he's taken this one a little out of proportion.

Marvin I am far from a disciple of Chris, in fact don't have much interest in Ducati at this point. I have a couple of good horror stories about service at Ducati shops and an engine builder myself. Personally I find the whole Ducati elitist attitude repulsive. Never got that from Chris, not saying he is perfect by any means, and my dealings with him are years ago.

As far as Stevo goes, everyone has a resume. Some more impressive than others. You might be surprised who is who on here and what they have done and still do, or you might not. If not, and you think the only worthy folks are the ones you know in your circle you have missed one of life's important lessons. Stevo's "I am important in the Ducati world" outlook and point of view about himself plays into what is worst about some Ducati shops and owners. Instead of getting into a pissing match on the inter-webs over something silly, perhaps a more humble attitude is in order. After all it was Stevo's fairly simple question about basic motorcycle electrical wiring that precipitated this whole thing. That he got offended when someone who does not know him tried to quickly asses his level of ability over the phone by asking a basic question says more about Stevo than about anyone else.

I will, that email came from a total a-hole. He may not be an a-hole all the time but at that particular time he was. I don't care if he works at the VA or how many lives he has changed that correspondance was absolutely uncalled for, childish and rude.

I don't know if maybe Chris was an a-hole at the time too. But there is no evidence to support that. I'm not defending him at all I wasn't there. But based on that email Steve is an a-hole.

Don't feel bad Steve, you an Marvin think I'm an a-hole too.

MAN what a mess.

Chris bro, there are crazy people out there in the world today. Your patience is far beyond mine when dealing with some of these nutzo's like Steve. Any customer who sends an e-mail using the F word constantly, doesn't deserve the time of day. But you ended up communicating with him again and trying to help the issue. Bravo for doing that and it shows you're truly exactly who I thought you were; A stand-up guy!

The OP Steve, really needs to learn how to control his anger and maintain composure. If he was good enough tech to guess on the diagnosis, installing the new relay should have been a snap! You take one relay out and install the other one. Chris even told him, you can install it anyway you want and it will work! I mean, how basically simple is that? Even Chris can make it basic enough for some tech in Alabama to figure it out! Yea, that was a low blow, but only someone from the south who was a "humanitarian" would SNAP at something as silly and ridiculous as someone not guiding him through the install.

So yea, Steve... you could be the nicest guy in the world. Chris is a one man band and he tried to help, got fed up and moved on. At least he tried...

Ohh and Chris, keep up the good work!

So I'm supposed to stop doing business with someone because some annonymous internet guy tells me to? Are you kidding?
This whole thing hearkens back to high school; Bobby not liking Johnny and anyone that likes Johnny is an enemy to Bobby. Grow up.
Also, regardless of what transpired between Chris and Steve, the language in that email is repulsive; i.e., "bimbo bitch." Dude, you're talking about a person. Show some humanity and dignity. You have no right to disrespect someone like that, especially about a phone conversation having to do with a wiring issue for a motorcyle. No harm was done to your person or a family member and your over reaction is embarrassing to read.
As for the reading off of one's resume, congratulations. We'll throw you a party and you can wear the tiara.

I'm lobbying for a ban on bans. Bans don't work and they're senseless! Only one person on here has ever been banned and he came right back. See, they don't work! Don't ban California Cycleworks!

Well I for one have never had any issues with Chris or CCW, in fact he has gone out of his way in helping me over the years from getting parts shipped overseas, to dealing with my constant 966 engine build and flat-slide questions. A+ in my book, everyone has a bad day from time to time, not sure what went on here and I don't really care. Some poster on a message board will not influance who I deal with.

Well stevo not sure who was having the bad day here, but you seem to have blown this out of proportion.. maybe you were treated the same way you were treating Chris and staff??

I can only say that i would never stop doing business with Chris & CCW, have been dealing with them for nearly 5 years now, and never had a problem.. always great friendly service and advice.

The fact that I'm on the other side of the globe is only testament to the fact that these guys are committed to what they do, not take shit from self righteous ass's ... my

Gee, he may be forced to ride.....oh no! a YAMAHA!?!? You need to start buying a bigger size of panties son, your holier than thou Ducati ego is showing, who cares what bikes you (wish) you had, or how many home schooling degrees you awarded yourself. Why don't you post a picture of all the bitches you've nailed and a scale drawing of yer schlong while yer at it. I hate to be stereotypical, but your post pretty much sums up the image Duc riders are stuck with (often by their own actions) If what you both said actually transpired, yer lucky someone didn't get on a plane fron SoCal and arrive at your door to wrap a torque wrench around yer head. ANYONE who calls themself a "motorcycle mechanic" needs a schematic to wire in a solonoid needs to put down the crack pipe. I've got an idea for ya, give Phil the fool Barrone a call and you can cry on each others shoulders about how the rest of the world is out to get you, and how mis-understood you are. You, son are a doucebag.

+1 with those that have good experiences with CA Cycleworks. I have placed a few orders with them and have always found Chris and his staff excellent to work with. I had an issue with my 916 and called him out of the blue to ask a few questions and he stopped what he was doing to help me out--great guy........

P.S. I worked in the service industry while I was attending college. 9 times out of 10 when a customer who we were trying to explain a mechanical procedure to, started bringing up how many college degrees they had(when the degrees had absolutely nothing to do with what we were discussing) they were guaranteed to be an asshole..........I'm just saying
