Anyone with sport classic wire wheels?

Anyone has a Sport Classic, with the modern, wide 17" wheels?

I'm very interested in knowing the weight of each wheel, if anyone has them off the bike and is able to weigh them, I'd be VERY appreciative!

baldy,

when i sold the wheels off my GT i had to weigh them for shipping; the front was ~ 30lbs and the rear was ~ 40lbs (w/ sprocket). they were 120/70 ff and 180/50 rr.
it goes w/out saying... they are insanely heavy.
switching to modern tires only abates the groove following issue (which the oem tires are notorious for), but does not help w/ weight (since you still use tubes).

Wow, that is HEAVY. OK, that closes out that idea. (unless BST made some carbon rims, to be combined with titanium spokes and magnesium hubs, of course )

no, I'm looking at wire wheel options for my 996-based naked bike project (running a hot 998 motor)

Ah, I see. Well the SC wheels are not optimal in that respect; aesthetically as well, they tend to corrode quite easily (at least the GT wheels do).
Alpina makes wire wheels, but they're $$$$$$$$.
Good luck and if you wouldn't mind sharing your build plans, I'd love to hear the details.

BTW...if you know anyone who may want to swap his/her 999 double-sided swingarm, linkage, shock, wheel and brake for my 996 single-sided arm complete assembly, let me know (the shock has been valved and resprung and is fresh). I'll throw both rear wheels in the deal (I have a track wheel and a street tire wheel)

I haven't seen anyone convert their 999 to a single sided swing arm, does it work?
