Default RIP Georgecls

George Morrison aka Georgecls passed away from complications of leukemia on friday. George posted here on the topics of oil and oil filtration. It has been a while but some of you may remember him.

The following is posted on the DesmOhio web site Desmohio - Ohios Ducati Owners Club | Desmohio.

George Sr. was a pillar DesmOhio and the Ducati community. He was always there to help and give advice on lubrication issues to anyone who would ask. George was one of the first 25 members of this club and joined before he even owned a Ducati. George bought a Cagiva Gran Canyon soon after. In fact, if it were not for George's Cagiva I would have known what one was and probably have not met Eric Whitnable and he would have sold his bike and still be married to his ex wife. Good thing for Eric! When George came to the club he brought with him one of his friends and employees who also really wanted a Ducati. His friend was Bill Culp. George was the man who confirmed Bill's death to me on that terrible day. George owned AV Lubricants which serviced the aviation industry as well as providing lubrication needs to other industries. He was a lubrication engineer and knew more about the subject than anyone I have ever met. If you asked him an oil question you had better have an hour or two because he was going to answer that question. George was a real oil man coming from an oil family in Pennsylvania if I am not mistaken.

George was always quick to buy a beer you a beer and entertain with a good story. He had a more than a few. I was fond of the one where he volunteered to drive a Lamborghini Countach from LA to Vegas. The air conditioning went out almost immediately and he had the drive from hell. I also liked the one where George's wife said he could buy a Ferrari if he would quit smoking. He did quit and he did get the car. Not bad stories for a man to have!

I have missed Georges presence at club functions since his accident at Ducati Revs Ohio a few years ago which resulted in a severe brain injury from which he never completely recovered. By this time George had replaced the Cagiva with the bike he really wanted, a Ducati Multistrada. It was a sad day when he told me that he was selling it because he could not ride anymore after the accident.

One of the last conversations that I had with George was a day or two after Bill Culp's funeral. George had called to tell me how much he and Bill's family appreciated all of the Ducs at full song when we reved them up for Bill at the cemetery. I don't care how cold it is. I will be at George's funeral on my bike. How 'bout you guys join me so we can make some noise for George Morrison!

You know, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bill met George at the pearly gates with a couple Amstel Lights in hand!

Very sorry to hear that

George was a great guy, I recall we had some great oily discussions over on the Multistrada.net and he was always there to provide his knowledge.

RIP George.
