i completed my rebuild last night using 3/16" Aluminum rivets that i purchased from Lowes. the head-size is a perfect match to the witnes marks left behind by the OE stainless steel rivets.

the aluminum def doesnt look as nice as the stainless. occasionally the Alu rivet heads got beatup upon install. also, i had to re-work two of them, which made it nice that i chose Alu because it was a breeze to drill.

we'll see about long-term durability, but i am going with confidence that most of the Alu rivet failures here have been to poor hole prep (wrong size, etc)......
