We've seen all sort of weird happenings in Formula 1, from the top European teams banding to stop Chaparral from entering the series to Ferrari having rules written to suit them without the other teams blinking without forgetting one of my favorites, Gordon Murray's fan car fiasco.
We've seen drivers being lapped putting up the most shameful blocking tactics to favor other teams or others retiring perfectly functioning cars without any rational explanation but this is one of the very few times I've heard allegations of driver purposely crashing to favor his team mate.
Briatore is a "neck suitable for the gallows", as we say around here, with a bad reputation going back at least to the years he run Benetton's franchising network in the US and Alonso... well let's just say that his stay at McLaren and his involvement in the Ferrari spy story speak volumes about his character. He may be one of the best drivers in the world but I wouldn't hire him for my team, no matter how much sponsorship money he can put on the table.
