Unhappy F1-Massa accident

Anyone else catch the Qualifying coverage today, and see Massa's accident? Ugly!

Latest reports are that he's out of surgery on his skull, but they say his injuries are 'life-threatening' but that he's sedated & stable.

Hope he comes through OK. That was scary to see, he looked to be be out cold until just before he hit the wall. It's a credit to the cars that he didn't get hurt worse when he hit the tire wall.

It was amazing to watch in slowmo.. I stepped through it a couple of times.. take a couple pound spring, he's going 150 and slam that into your head.. even with a helmet..

That was crazy, it's amazing that shit doesn't happen more often with open cockpit racers.

Sadly I have to wonder if now his career is over. Very few racers seem to be able to come back 100% after a serious head injury. I've actually started to like him over the last three years, Raikkonnen is the master of cool ambivalence, but Massa seems to be enjoying himself and trying his hardest every time.

Today's Twitter update indicates he has suffered damage to his left eye. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but that may be what ends his career.

If that's the case, it would definitely be a shame. I was not a Massa fan as such, but I hate to see anyone's career ended this way.

It was all over crash.net that he'll probably never race again due to eye damage like stated above and everyone wants Schumi to return...

That's too bad, he came so close to winning the championship last year and now his chances are likely over to ever win one.
