Default Way, Way Off Topic...

Long story short.

Drove to Annapolis to drool at other people's yachts. Went by a classic car dealership, left with a 91 NSX, black over red, 53,145 miles.

Car at Acura dealers, getting the once over. Longer story short...lots of work being done (nothing major) other than new wheels and tires (one of the after market rims was dinged on the inside, not made any more; one of the Dunlops had a defect, that type tire not made any more). Have Work Meister S2R wheels (17x8 front, 18x10 rear, with Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 215/40 R17; 265/35 R18 tires) waiting to be mounted. Expect car out of shop by next week.

The short time I was in the car...was great. Has a CF/mesh engine bay cover, alloy shock strut brace, K&N filter installed. Steers like a go-kart (I'm not kidding...and no PS either), stops on a dime, engine sounds great above 5.4K to 8K redline.

Looking at performance upgrades. Can get the 3.0L VTEC V6 to 367 rwhp with supercharging, lots of other performance goodies available...but I will run out of $$$ long before I get all that is available.

Thinking of participating in Car and Driver's "One Lap Of America" nonsense in 2007. Lots of things would have to fall into place for that to happen (mostly car upgrades), but at this stage...it looks feasible!

Nice! NSX's are a great bang for the buck... USED that is... and you still get Honda quality. I do think a car in "that category" should not have a V6, but it's still a nice car and for what you can get one used for, it's very cool. The SC option is awesome and DURABLE from what I hear. I looked at one a while back, but with the motorcyle habit and the need for a truck, nothing will be happnin' for a while.

Post some pics dude!

Can't post until I get the car back. And then...it might be going in for painting. The paint is very good, but there are a couple minor spots I might want to get touched up. Will advise!

Never do a complete repaint of a valuable car unless the paint is destroyed. It will decrease the value. Check with the service manager at your nearest Porsche dealership, and ask them who they use for touchups.

Very cool cars. I have always liked them. They have a timeless beauty to them. Let us know how you like it.

I hear you. Touchup is my first choice, but I'm not worried about decreasing the value of the car. I'm not going to resell it, I'm going to modify the you-know-what out of it, take it to the track, and run it like it was meant to be run.

Science of Speed (SOS) has a really cool normally aspirated engine upgrade. Basically, they punch out the VTEC to 3.3L, and you gain about 90 rwhp (using their ECU, header, pipe, air box). Of course...that isn't cheap! So, the first mods I'll probably do will be handling upgrades, and the air box/header/exhaust. I just have to work a second job to be able to do that. I guess I can do without sleep for a while!
