Default Can anyone build a C-6 Ford transmission???

I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that can build a C6 ford transmission that wont explode! My motor makes 500HP and 790 FT. Lbs of torque at 3500 RPM. My trans just wont shift fast enough to stop from smoking the second gear band and welding all of the third gear plates together. I will have replaced my trans. three times on under 2000 street miles. Yes they were very hard street miles just ask my passengers. He He. BTW this trans goes in the 59 ford wagon with twin turbos and weights 5000 lbs and does 12.6 in the 1/4 mile at only 6lbs of boost but now it makes 15lbs of boost. I need to know if anyone knows how to build a torque trans. ????????

I am taking the trans to a new guy tomorrow. He says that he can handle the job but I have doubts. The last guy boned me for over $1600.oo and it has blown up twice. He did warrantee the trans once but it has blown up in under 200 miles this time.

I just had it out with the old tranny guy. What a mess that was. I went to the new tranny shop and watched the guy tear apart the old trans to see if there were any of the special parts that were supposed to be in there and guess what. It is just a heavy duty stock trans. It has no STEEL planetary gears and no kevlar second gear band and only 3 forward gear and 3 high gear clutch plates. No wonder it keeps exploding. What a piece of $hit. I got screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that. I hate transmission shops. Guess I will have to learn how to build this trans myself if I want it right.

Did you pay for the special stuff to be installed? If so I'd be going after that shop in a BIG way. Not all shops are bad. Try to locate one that deals specifically with racing trannies. Ask around the tracks you go to for drag racing. See who they like. Might cost a grand more than other shops, but you can be certain they did it right most the time.

Yes i did pay for the special parts to be put in the trans. But the son of the shop wound up building the trans and there was a loss of parts to be used in the translation but there was never a loss in adding up the cost of the parts on the repair order. Hmmmm?? I hate tranny shops. Did I say that already?

Sorry I'm late posting on your thread. Do you have the big diameter servo on it?
This hits harder etc. Used on trucks and Shelby big blocks.

No I do not have the big servo on this trans. It was supposed to be there though. It is now being built by a different tranny shop. It is going to have a WIDE kevlar second gear band and a 6 pin steel planetary gear and HD clutch plates and a 4 plate and 5 plate clutch pack drums and a billet R type servo and servo cover also a new Second gear band servo finger that has a different pressure ratio. All for just under a thousand dollars. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should have had these parts in this trans in the first place. I sure paid for them. I will now have over $2600.00 in this trans overall. I hate tranny shops. I should have built it myself.

Well I just got back from the drag strip and what a differance this new transmission makes. Now I just have to get the car to hook to the ground. I had ten pounds of air in the rear tires and smoked them up good and staged the car. I torqued up the motor and when the green light came on I floored it and it just blew the tires off of it like a top fuel dragster so I pedeled it 3 times and it still never hooked so I shifted it to second gear and it spun the tires for about 30 feet in second gear. Then after it reved to 3500 rpm I shifted to 3rd gear and at about 80mph it spun the tires again. It did a 12.9 Sec. Pass at 110mph. Just think what it could do with a hot pair of slicks. Most likely just twist off the axle shafts off I bet. I sure would love to see this car with the front wheels high in the air. That sure would make a great picture. Well I guess the transmission works great now.
